Memorial Day Weekend!

Hey there all! 

It's Friday! It's FOODIE FRIDAY! 
It's the weekend! And best of all it's a 3 day weekend! 
Can I get a Whoop Whoop?

Any big plans for the weekend???
Whatever they may be, I hope that you enjoy them thoroughly! And I hope that I enjoy mine!

I'm all packed and ready to go! I've got a few chores that need to be done today, then I'm gonna go have my nails done later this afternoon, straight after that the four of us have dinner reservations at 'Shojin' - a LA favorite and a possible future feature for FOODIE FRIDAY!

I was on a roll yesterday...
I got quite a few things checked off of my to do list:

1. Signed us all up for the Gladiator Mud Run! Read about last years event HERE
   
2. Booked Dave's return flight from the MLB All Star Game.
3. Booked our return flights from Reno (whew...this one is only a couple of weeks away!)
4. And now, I checked us in and we are all set to head on up to San Francisco and Mendocino first thing in the morning!

Then we got a call...
Ya see, originally I was gonna head to the Chino Stables today with Cosette, and have both Dream and Star's hoofs done. 
But apparently there was some miscommunication and the new Farrier had us on the schedule for yesterday! 
So there was a last minute change in my plans and Cosette and I headed on out there.

While I've been around horses pretty much most of my life, I really had never witnessed the trimming of hoofs up close and personal...

How very interesting it was! 
And although Dream was a bit nervous at first (never meeting this new Farrier before), she handled the experience like a superstar! 
I was so proud of her as she stood there getting her main/pedi!
Then it was Star's turn... 
And this was a completely different story. She was moody and beastly. She's the Alpha Mare and she was proving that! Star definitely holds her wild instincts dear to her heart!

The poor Farrier 'Dustin' had his hands full! He was nearly trampled!
YIKES! What a job. 
And yet Dustin didn't let it phase him whatsoever. What a great attitude and great job he did! Heck if you're gonna have a job like that, you should definitely be an animal lover and have patience.

I've heard some horror stories about other Farrier's and even trainers who try to over power the animal, and have these huge egos and things just don't go very well to say the least. 
We are sure glad to have found Dustin. 
I highly recommend him at Kelly Farrier Service (818)397-2837. 
We look forward to working with him on a regular schedule. And hopefully Star is in a better mood next time around!

Well, she wasn't the only one who was moody yesterday...
Dave who allows just so many things stress him out, was all stressed out. 
(It's quite bewildering to me.)
 
I try to help in whatever way possible. And, as impatient as I may be about certain things, I am actually quite patient in these situations. 
I know that stress is coming from the ego and from a place of fear.  

But last night I had it when he said something to me that was rather disrespectful IMO. 
So very rude and out of place.
And now I've gotta release and let it go so not allow it to ruin tonight or our weekend plans.

Memorial Day Weekend Kick-off

TGIF!! and it's a 3-Day weekend to boot!! Oh Yeah!

I've got a relatively busy weekend planned - nothing too crazy, but enough to make it fun and memorable.

Tomorrow, I'll be going out east to the barn for the kids' horseback riding.  Being around those horses always brings a smile to my face!! Especially the baby ones!!

I'll be hooking up with one of my besties, Lisa out in Westhampton for alittle coffee klatch to shoot the breeze while the girls are riding away.  

We've got a few interesting creative projects that we are working on - too early to talk about it now, but you can be sure I'll fill you in when the time is right!!!

Sunday, me and the girls will be heading into the city to see Gigi on Broadway with Vanessa Hudgens (of High School Musical fame).  The kids are not that stoked yet, but once they are in the theatre, their whole demeaner changes and they come alive with the music and liveliness on stage.

Considering this story takes place in Paris, they will be able to connect since they visited the City of Lights in 2013.

I had so much to do this weekend, I didn't even make a dinner reservation yet - yikes.  My mom and Dad were supposed to come with us, but they opted to be in a Golf Tournament instead.  

I was hurt and disappointed and so were the girls since we had purchased these tickets months ago. Oh well, such is life.  It will be a mommy bonding day!

Monday, with the day off and the official Memorial Day holiday this week, I was hoping to go back into NYC since its Fleet Week NYC from May 22-26th.

We are planning to go with my friend Marta and her son Mark.  I have to still plan out this day and what we will do.  I'm usually so buttoned down, but this year, I'm going to be winging it, since I had a number of other distractions in the past week.  

I know it will be just fine.

Today also happens to be Foodie Friday!  Read all about Calogeros Restaurant in Garden City, Long Island!  We had an amazing time there on Mother's Day this year and it's one of my go-to restaurants for both lunch and dinner!!

I'll be doing a bunch of planting later today - have to get my marigolds and impatiens in the ground!!  My veggies are coming alone well too!!  Love when the garden comes together!!
