My mis-adventures in trying to get to DenverHiya everyone! What a crazy few days I've had... I'm just gonna get right to it and jump right in. I was heading out to Denver with my friend David on Thursday. We were going by way of the Bay Area, as I had to switch vehicles up there (yes we were driving there - here there and everywhere). Well anything and everything that happened next was unexpected, unplanned and a bit of a travel mis-adventure! We left Orange County at 4:30am on Thursday morning. The day and the drive was going to be long enough that we had to make it through LA before traffic - that means leaving a minute later than 5:15a can cause major delays in a schedule. We arrived in Fresno before 9am and decided that it was a good place to stop for a coffee and garden stroll break... And thus far everything was actually going as planned and according to schedule! I had a quick errand that took slightly longer than planned and then we were back on our way. The Jeep that I was picking up was outside of Sacramento and after that I would drop off the Jeep that I was driving at another location. Well this is just about where things started to go a bit awry... The gal releasing the said Jeep that I was picking up to drive to Colorado with had wished me "Good Luck" but not in a Bon Voyage sort of way. More like a "I'm worried about your safety in this vehicle" type of way. So my first inclination was to take it ti the dealer and get it checked out. Which is exactly what I did. The dealer gave it a clean bill of health and we were back on our way. Next stop was to drop off the OG Jeep and then onward to Denver... As we were almost approaching the freeway exit I had received a call from Dave - who had been following me. But I suppose that at this point he was no longer following me because the "problematic" Jeep was having issues and he needed to pull off of the freeway. I went back to find him and to call a tow truck. Since we were kinda out in the middle of nowhere, it was raining and I still needed to drop off the "good" Jeep! Being that the tow truck quoted well over an hour, I decided to first drop off the "good" Jeep in the meantime. Then back via LYFT to the "bad" Jeep and wait some more. Finally the tow truck had arrived. Loaded the scary Jeep and took the Jeep and us to a nearby dealership. Have you know that I was taking this all in my stride and truly okay with the situation, maintaining a delightful attitude! And once there it was time to find a last minute hotel and call it a night. With the morning and the rest of the trip as an unknown... Yesterday morning we came to terms with aborting the mission to get to Denver and had postponed the trip to next week. Instead we picked up a car to make our way back down to OC and just took our sweet time in getting back. Stopping along the way for an Acai Bowl, some Turkish Coffee, a beautiful Sun Dog and a lovely dinner at my favorite Indian Restaurant - Ambrosia in Monterey! We arrived home at 4a after our little adventure. It was time to catch a few zzz's and then start today!! Hopefully I have time to pack for my upcoming trips - Denver/Dallas and Bermuda. I'm outta here for now, -Travelin' Tanya | School Play and Mock TrialHey!! What a great surprise seeing Tanya's Scoop up and posted today! Well, in truth, I was out the door pretty darn early today, so this is the first chance I've gotten to get on my laptop. Actually, I'm coming to you from the dentist's office. Not terribly exciting, but my girl Gianna has a loose tooth in her temporary bridge and needs to get it repaired before it completely breaks. Anyhoo, let me start off with a little recap... Last night was Kelsey's school play - Shrek The Musical. Boy, was it cute and what a great job the kids and "teacher" directors did for this production. The photos are not fantastic, but you can see my little Kelsey, dressed as Peter Pan in a few of them, on the left hand side in the fidrst photo. Gianna and I cheered her on in the audience, along with a packed auditorium!! Well, we had to get to bed as soon as we got home since we had to be up and out early for another event for Kelsey. This time it was at St. John's University in Queens, for her Mock Trial. This is an annual program that involved middle schoolers from Long Island Catholic schools, who participate in a mock trial. I was blown away. The kids have been working on this weekly in school for a few months, prepping for a "trial" whereby each person has a special role such as plaintiff, defendant, defense attorney(s), prosecuting attorneys and witnesses. Kelsey was a cross examining "attorney" for the defense. The trial is presided over by an acting "judge" (a real life practicing attorney) and a verdict is rendered. In our "bullying case", the defense's argument was compelling enough to win!!! Yay!!! These kids were super amazing, professional, poised and downright mature!! Really enjoyed it!!
