Tanya's Daily Scoop
Tears on Travelin Tuesday...
As you'll notice, you've just got little 'ol me today and Elisa won't be joining us (find out why in the body of today's SCOOP).
So it's another Travelin' Tuesday here on Travelin' Cousins. A day that we always look forward to in order to share details about what else...TRAVEL!
As you know I had a board meeting last night for the IPC (International Peace Choir) and we started discussing our 2016 travel plans. While this is generally a topic that I'm always ecstactic to chat about, this time around I immediately knew that as much as we would like to participate in the upcoming travel plans (and that we have never missed a trip in all of our 10 years with this organization), the trips being discussed were just not going to work out for us. And here's why...
Both trips being mentioned and discussed were for America Sings Festivals.
This was certainly not the problem, as we always thoroughly enjoy and look forward to these festivals.
The problems are the locations and the dates.
Trip A is going to Orlando in early March 2016 - we have a Big Trip planned to Orlando in October 2016 - and it is unlikely that I will go to Orlando and the amusement parks twice in one year, plus the timing is right smack in the middle of our ski season - taking time away from my favorite activity - which already has such a limited season.
Trip B is going back to Washington DC - I say going back, because that is where the choir went in 2014.
The travel plans that were being discussed for 2016 were originally for Hawaii, so I suggested that we present the associates with 3 options during next week's associates meeting where a vote will be taken.
You know what I'm voting for! More on this next Tuesday...
Now, speaking of birthdays...
my gift to Chaplin was her first visit to Build-a-Bear and it was a surprise.
Since she had no idea where this surprise visit was to (and her guesses were the likes of taking her to Hawaii, Las Vegas, etc...I love how this girl thinks BIG), she had decided that she DID NOT want to go on her actual birthday. And so it was planned for a later date.
Being that I left for our Moab and Southwestern National Parks Road Trip on the day after her birthday and returned on Mother's day, the first available day to head on over to Downtown Disney and the Build-a-Bear store was yesterday.
She picked out an adorable little Yellow Pegasus (from My Little Pony) and named her Butterfly!
It was so super cute, and brought back many memories of the visits taking little Dominic and tiny Cosette to Build-their-Bears! Aww.
I'm not going to be sharing anything about our upcoming Milestone Birthday Eastern Europe Rail Trip this week. Since this trip is a Cousins trip, we will wait until next week when Elisa is back with us!
As for my own upcoming travel...
First as I mentioned yesterday, let me share with you how I personally categorize travel:
I use the term Vacation rather sparingly - and mostly save this term for trips that are over-seas and/or lengthy. But not to include a trip that is visiting family (East Coast) regardless of length of time.
I use the term Getaway for shorter trips (typically less than 1 week) and usually not a great distance away from home - Las Vegas, Portland, Seattle, etc...
I use the term Trip for any of the above and for any travel that was not mentioned in the above descriptions.
Now as for the next several weeks, I have plenty of _________ scheduled!
I will be gone almost every weekend until leaving for the __________ with Elisa!
Here is a list of where I'll be heading:
The following extended weekend - Mendocino!
Short break at home and then...
Up to Lake Tahoe (this will be my first visit to Lake Tahoe outside of the winter months)!
The following weekend - San Francisco!
And then off to Europe we go!
The prepping for the Europe trip is going to take quite a bit of planning on my end - as I will be gone for 5+ weeks and the packing for myself and for the kids is going to be very involved. More on this as we get closer to this departure date!
Finally as for today, Cosette had a Horseback riding class that we postponed until tomorrow. Dominic has his night classes. And I will be continuing to unpack and catch up from our last trip.
Many tears have been and will be shed as their hearts have been broken and dear sweet Liberty has crossed through the Rainbow Bridge.
Please send your condolences and prayers to the family.
See you back here tomorrow,
-T
