NEXT TRIP IN 3 DAYS: NEW YORK
Speaking of time and recapping Chaplin's 7th Birthday
Yikes! How is it already May?! We are now in the 5th month of the year?!
Would somebody please figure out how to slow time down just a bit.
I suppose time doesn't fly like its at the speed of light for everyone. I suppose that time even moves at a very slow pace for some.
And like I've told you time and time before that even I have a few different ways that I look at that funny thing called TIME.
If I happen to be looking ahead - such as focusing on what's on the calendar in the coming months, well then it seems like "those things" will be here in no time.
But if I focus on things that I've already done, well then it is astonishing to think that I've done so much and yet those things seem like so long ago.
And then if I focus on the very moment - which I highly suggest doing, so that you can be there in the fullest, enjoy all there is to take in and take the "time" to give gratitude and thanks, well then time moves at the perfect speed. Not too fast and not too slow.
Hello there, as I'm sure you've noticed that this month is National Bike Month, and while Dave and I will be pedaling on this coming Sunday along with approx 32,000 other cyclists in the 5 Boro Bike Tour in New York.
When looking ahead at the month of May and comparing it with the month of April, we definitely had more biking on the calendar for April than for May. But that is just us and most likely because we will be heading out on another vacation on May 16th.
When I travel (which is ALL the time) you guys know how I just love packing in my days and exploring.
Well my dear little and now 7 year old niece Chaplin is following pretty closely in my footsteps and although is hasn't had the opportunity to travel all that much (her parents don't have the bug/addiction), Chaplin still manages to plan the heck out of whatever she can.
Yesterday was her birthday and she led us around like a pro!!
Since her folks (mainly her mom/my sis) is not even semi close to being a morning person the events rarely ever take place before lunchtime - which makes her impossible to plan a breakfast with! lol
And since that is the case, Cosette and I bopped over to the stables before the festivities had began.
Anyhow, Chaplin's first plan of the day (besides opening a few of her gazillion gifts) was to go eat at the now full remodeled Freesoul Cafe.
Freesoul Caffe Although Chaplin's birthday fell on a Monday, there was no stopping the celebration with our fam bam... Andrew (her dad) took the day off. Dave C. had the day off. Houston (Brigitte's boyfriend) took the day off. And even Mika took a partial day at school. All to celebrate Chaplin!
Dave B. who had to work (because he takes waaaaaay more vacation days then the rest of these guys) he still managed to show up just in time for our group of 13 to enjoy a lovely Monday brunch!
Next up (after the chore of picking up her birthday cake while Dave C. and I had to make a quick run to FedEx office for the upcoming Disney Princesses Scavenger Hunt) was heading to Sky Zone Trampoline Park where Michael met us to continue the celebration!
I watched in awe as I use to really enjoy jumping on trampolines. But since I have a trick knee or as Liz corrected me "an athletic knee" I really should jump no longer being I don't want to end up in a wheel chair or crutches...again
And then even though we were all wearing sweaters it was time to go to the beach. Where our family friend Matt was even able to show up for the fun!
It was time to finally go home. There was still a Disney Princesses scavenger hunt, gifts galore, cake and dinner to be had...
Then eventually we were all pooped from all the fun - even the birthday girl!
And in my book that is SUCCESS! Good job Chaplin!
Until tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya

Well, May is finally here! I hope the weather takes note of this fact as well!
We've got some super fun stuff to bring you throughout the month!
I've got so many features that I am working on for Elisa's Long Island, Outer NYC Boroughs & Travelin' 25, along with a bunch of trips, near and far, with which Tanya and I will have you captivated throughout May!
Did you know that May is National Bike Month?!
That's right! So, with all the sunshine and warm weather coming, make sure you get your bicycle ready!
Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try.
I just got a brand new kick stand on my bike and after checking that my tires are full, I'm planning to get out there this Sunday for a leisurely ride around my town!! I'm pretty sure my girls will want to join me!!
Of course, Tanya has been riding her little butt off all around the country during the past few months! And this weekend, she is headed for New York to participate in the Five Boro Bike Tour! Very exciting stuff.
Mark your calendars for these important dates this month: May 14–18: National Bike To Work Week 2018
