Celebrating Women & Expert World Traveler Features Me!
Well, hello!! Can you believe that Friday is finally here!
This was a very long and stressful week for me. Monday feels eons ago. In any case, apologies for being MIA yesterday. I was out the door at 7:45 and didn't return until after I picked up the girls from school. And then I headed out yet again at 4pm and didn't return till 7:30. Errands, appointments, shopping, etc. What my day lacked in excitement, it more than made up for in productivity.
This morning, my dear cousin Tanya and I will be having a little business pow-wow before she is off and running to catch her flight for Tampa, FL to attend MLB Spring Training.
I know she will have tons to tell us with her blogging and of course, her videos live from Tampa that we will be posting here on The Daily Scoop as well as on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. If you are not as yet following us on social media - please do so for all the current and minute by minute happenings with TC!
Today, as you may be aware, is International Women's Day. We gals have come a long way in all areas of life, one of which is travel!
When we think of travel, our first thought is not always the most obvious and common mode of transportation that we have become accustomed - automotive travel. But, think about it - we use our cars (whether we own them or rent them) for getting almost anywhere and everywhere. This includes road trips, and destination travel. Did you know that there have been numerous contributions made by women in the automotive industry? Thanks to Your AAA Daily, here is a delightfully informative piece about the numerous ladies who helped propel the ingenuity and comfort of cars!! Women in Automotive History
For over a century, cars and automobiles have been seen as a stereotypically male pastime. But historically, that’s simply not the case. Women have been involved in transportation innovation since the invention of the wheel. In fact, many of the gadgets and gizmos in your car and on the road were first invented by women. read more
As you know, each Friday, we bring you a new article from ThisIsTheBronx.info, but today, the online news service is not publishing guest columns as the owner, Gary Axelbank has headed down to Florida to attend the blessed event of his son's marriage. Travelin' Cousins wishes all the best to the new bride and groom and to their families!!!
Don't fret - I'll be back with a new article for the Bronx site next Friday!! And speaking of published articles, I am happy to advise, that one of our articles (written by your's truly) has been published in ExpertWorldTraveler.com.

Heading to Tampa and Tampa Vegan Eats
Hello my lovelies!!
Although I feel like I've just returned from Lake Tahoe (which I did), today is another travel day for me and the day that Dave and I head down to Tampa. Let me share with you how very excited that I am!! While I've been to Florida countless times. I've even been to Tampa a couple of times. But I have never been to Spring Training in Tampa (insert an image of me doing a little happy dance here).
While we are only going for the weekend and I will only get to see my New York Yankees play twice. Once against the Baltimore Orioles at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota and the other at their 2nd home - George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.
I'll have you know that I can hardly think about doing much else while visiting Tampa, but I do have a few other places on my list for sightseeing as well as vegan food finding.
As Elisa notes in her column I will be sharing pics and videos along the way on our social media pages - so be sure to follow along and tune in!
REGARDING FOOD - EATS AND TREATS
During the initial stages of my vegan eats search I've gotta say that I wasn't looking at that forward to a truly good meal or any super delish treats. But that was then and this is now. And now I have a long list of so many delicious sounding (and looking) foods...I'm actually gonna do a bit of a vegan food crawl and pray that I can eat at as many places as I hope to. Otherwise I'll be doggie bagging it because there are a few of these places that I refuse to miss! The list is too long to hit them all over the course of a weekend, so I've narrowed down what works for me according to my schedule (game schedules) and locations. Here is my list of Vegan Food Finds around Tampa:
I've carefully looked over each of the menus for these establishments and although there might be other vegan options out there. These are the places that have made my list. And out of this list I plan on checking out at least 5 of these eateries. I'm sure I'll need to burn off a few extra calories once I get back home! LOL *While most of these finds are all vegan/vegetarian, a couple might be the type of place you go when you are going with your omni friends. My nails are done, of course we are packed, all checked in and once Dave returns we'll have some of the yummy Broccoli Cheese soup that I've prepared (vegan of course) and then we'll hit the road, head to the Ontario Airport and off to Tampa! I'll bid you adieu and catch ya from Florida, -Travelin' Tanya |
