Me! before heading off to court yesterday (c) travelincousins.com
Well, hello there!!!
Yes, I've been MIA on and off this week and I am so very sorry!
As you all know, I'm still in the midst of my divorce and well, there are days when the day is focused on finalizing some issues related to this process.
Thankfully, it all looks like things are moving ahead in the right direction, but there just aren't enough darn hours in the day to do everything that I'm committed to doing all the time!
Add to that -- the girls have their Science Fair tonight - well, actually, it was all day in school; tonight is for the parents to come and view everything and when prizes will be given out.
But, needless to say, each of the girls was up late finalizing their tri-fold presentations and their written presentations. Of course, both of them had worked on their respective projects consistently for a few weeks, but you know how it goes with the night before something is due.
My house was a bit upside down last night, particularly my dining room with papers, glitter tape, and every kind of craft supply you can image. Scraps of papers on the floor, index cards all over with mistake-laden speeches and of course, the remnants of all the supplies used all over the table and the floor. (Fun clean up for Mom).
In all seriousness, aside from shopping and paying of all supplies, having a few photos developed for Kelsey's project and gluing three things - these kids did EVERYTHING themselves!
Thank goodness, everything looked amazing when it was done!
I'll be taking pictures of their presentations tonight and post tomorrow.
So, back to today... I had a few travel-related things I wanted to tell you yesterday for Travelin' Tuesday, but didn't get a chance (obviously) since I never posted.
My trip to London is only 36 days away!!!
Let's see, being the anal retentive person that I am, I have all my clothes laid out and ready to make there way into my suitcase. YAY!!! So excited. I also copied my dear cousin and actually assigned specific outfits for each day of the trip.
Note that most of my outfits for London are a combination of gray, black, and white, with splashes of pink and red. However, for Paris (for our two days there), I have opted to wear blue.
So, what do you think I did when it came to the kids? Yup - I've coordinated their clothing following the same color palette.
I managed to get myself to Old Navy on Sunday morning and was so THRILLED that I not only hit a 30%-off sale, but I also got an additional 40% off by using my Old Navy credit card AND, since I had registered my credit card, literally at the register while the girl was ringing everything up - for "In-Store" purchases with EBATES, I got cash back on my entire purchase!!! NOT BAD.
Well, I was pleased even further since everything I bought for the girls was both liked by them and fit them as well! SCORE!
And speaking of London, while my itinerary is just about complete, I ran into a friend today while getting a hot chocolate and he was recently in London.
He made two suggestions for me to add to my schedule while there...
The Churchill War Rooms is a museum in London and one of the five branches of the Imperial War Museum.
This museum includes the original Cabinet War Rooms as well as the wartime bunker which sheltered Churchill and his staff during the Blitz.
Churchill War Rooms has a vast collection of objects, which together explore the stories of Churchill’s life and legacy. Highlights from the current display include a rattle used by Churchill as a baby, a drawing by Graham Sutherland commemorating Churchill’s 80th birthday and the flag used to drape Churchill’s coffin at his State funeral.
This is so up my alley since I love anything historic pertaining to WWI! I managed to squeeze it on Day 2 as we venture towards Buckingham Palace!!! Thanks Don for the suggestion!!!
Available in the morning, afternoon or for a full day, this coach tour hits the English capital’s top rock ‘n’ roll landmarks, from ‘Tin Pan Alley,’ where the Rolling Stones cut their first record, to the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing.
Oh my goodness - again, faced with too much to do and not enough time!!!
I'll let you know what I figured out and fit in during the next few days!!
Well, folks, good to be back - see ya'll again tomorrow!!!
Have a great one!!
Tanya's Daily Scoop NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 12 DAYS
A sneak peak at Summer
Good Day Folks!
It's HUMP-DAY and I really don't know how I feel about that. I can't tell if it "feels" like a Wednesday of not. *Get back to me tomorrow and I'll let you know.
Yesterday happened to be the first day (night) that Dominic was finally back to some of his fitness classes. Dave and I were there doing our usual thang - watching with snacks in hand! We usually bring some reading material, but last night was such a rush for me that
I literally ran out the door with my laptop as I was still working on the IPC budget with our treasurer and placing an order for something that I'm very excited about....and will reveal as soon as my shipment arrives!
I've been nailing down itineraries left and right. Bookings here, there and everywhere.
One of which is also our flights to NYC for our summer trip - we are leaving on June 13th and it's going to be a summer to remember!!
Here's a sneak peak at where this trip will take us:
Assateague, Maryland (to see the Assateague Wild Horses)
Western Caribbean Cruise to GRAND CAYMAN - MAHOGANY BAY - BELIZE and COZUMEL
Miami for the 88th MLB All Star Game
So as you can imagine there is a whole lot of planning that goes into something like this. We are going to be gone for over a month and there will be different groupings of our clan throughout the trip.
Lots of logistics to deal with, but it's bound to be a real BLAST!
BUT for now I've got to still deal with finishing unpacking, work on my birthday plans - we are going to The World Baseball Classic at San Diego's Petco Park which I'm looking quite forward to - plus there will be lots of eating! LOL Which is always fun...when it's yummy ;)
The World Baseball Classic is the premier international baseball tournament, sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), and operated as a joint venture between Major League Baseball and its Players Association.
The Tournament features the best players in the world competing for their home countries and territories.
It is the main baseball tournament sanctioned by the WBSC, which grants to the winner the title of "World Champion".
It previously coexisted with Olympic Baseball (until 2008) and the Baseball World Cup (until 2011) as IBAF–sanctioned tournaments, but baseball has not been on the Olympic program since 2008, after it was voted out by the International Olympic Committee in 2005.
The final men's Baseball World Cup was held in 2011, and was discontinued to streamline the international calendar.
So it should definitely be a good time for a baseball lovin gal like myself! I've just got to go find my birthday outfit - and solve the ongoing question of "what to wear".
Another thing I want you to check out is my updated PHOTO GALLERY, I've added new pictures and ever some new locations. Maybe you'll find somewhere that you'd like to go!!
Lastly, please take a gander over at Elisa's column and see what's in store for her London Trip.
As you know, we will be meeting up and sharing a few days together in London as one big group of cousins! But each of us have our own itineraries for the days that it will be just us and our kiddos.
