Tanya's Daily Scoop Covering the West Coast & the World ON THE WAY TO: ROME
It's Travel Time!
Our departure day has arrived and we are on our way!
Flight out of LAX at 8am and we've got a fairly long day of travel ahead of us. Our first stop will be in Philly and a short 2 hours layover later we'll be on our way to Italy! A total of 12ish hours of being in the air and we'll land at FCO on Wednesday morning.
For those of you that don't know (or don't remember). This trip was originally Dominic's idea - well at least the Ireland portion of it was. As usual, you can't say anything around me without me making the plans!
And then usually going a step further and adding onto the plans. Sometimes the trips become a bit lengthy! Although I'm perfectly good with that, those traveling with me are not always okay with it.
So the addition of finally showing the kids Rome (one of my favorite cities) was all my idea!!!
And just to let you guys know my little niece Chaplin (the lover of all holidays - just like me); well she has been giving me much flack about us being gone over St. Patrick's Day and not arriving back on the home front until the evening of my birthday.
Hopefully she forgives us!!!
Anyhow throughout the day we will be going about 6,400 miles and traveling through many time zones, eventually arriving at a time difference of 9 hours ahead of the Pacific time zone.
It'll be a quick adjustment for us and we will be hitting the pavement right off the bat!
So far it's already been a doozy of a travel day - which you'll hear all about in tomorrow's Daily Scoop!
I'll leave it at that.
Tootles, -Travelin' Tanya

Celebrating Great Women in Travel
Hi there!! What a relaxing morning I'm enjoying! A bit different than yesterday, when I was out the door by 7:45AM.
Apologies to you guys as I never linked my weekly feature yesterday "Women Pioneers of Travel." Actually I had to put a few finishing touches onto the article (which I only did this morning - YIKES!).
I believe you are going to totally enjoy reading about these amazingly fearless female trailblazers!! While researching them, I almost felt as if I hadn't done anything in the way of travel. I mean, these ladies lived one hundred years ago, when travel was not as luxurious, let alone something women did as freely based on the gender limitations that existed at that time.
Their accomplishments and explorations were awesome and awe inspiring!!
Please leave your comments and thought about this feature!! We love to hear from you!!
Moving right along, my dear baby cuz is heading out this morning for Rome, Italy!!! Talk about green with envy - me!! How I love Rome!
Seriously, I'm completely thrilled for her and thought I would "join her" as she made her way throughout the Eternal City, by re-posting previous blogs from my trip to Rome with the girls back in August of 2014! Wow how time flies.
In any case, you will have an extra special side-by-side dose of Rome in the coming days!!
I need to tell you that yesterday in Woodlawn Heights in the Bronx was so much fun! There is so much for me to see in the "Little Ireland" section of the borough. My plan is to return again next week so I can see a number of other sites which I did not have time to do yesterday.
My trip next week will include lunch at one of the most authentic Irish eating establishments! Can't wait. Although, they will probably hate me since I'm a mostly vegetarian! We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE MORE BRONX ADVENTURES WITH YOU!!!
I get upset because the Bronx is so overlooked and honestly, there is so much history to behold.
Well, Elisa here will be bringing it to you!!
Going to finish this here blog and get on to beginning next week's article about Woodlawn Cemetery!! (to be posted March 12th!).
