Elisa's Daily ScoopDreaming of Yellowstone & Grand Teton Road TripWelcome back! Well, while Tanya enjoys her last day on Sao Miguel in the Azores, I'll be celebrating Palm Sunday here on Long Island. Nothing major, but I will be preparing a nice dinner - making chicken cacciatore with pasta. Cousins Yellowstone Trip Quickly Approaching!! I just realized today that me and the girls leave for our Cousins Yellowstone Road trip in three weeks! Whew - that came up quickly! What I love most about road trips is that they are so casual! I just love when I can pack for one style - in this case, nothing fancy or dressy; no dress shoes. Clothes-wise - jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts. How easy!! Mid to late April, the weather in Yellowstone/Grand Teton has mild days and cool nights alternate with rain and snow. The temps during the time of year we'll be going - late April - will be highs of high-40's and lows of low-20's . So, layers clearly; warm winter jacket and I will bring a medium weight jacket as well. The valley trails are usually snow covered until late May, which means, we need to pack the appropriate footwear. I'm only going to bring 3 pairs of shoes only - sneakers, hiking shoes and all-weather boots/shoes. A rain slicker and umbrella and I should be all set. This will be an easy trip to pack for the girls as well. They are not fans of jeans, so it will be leggings and sneakers. I'm getting so excited just thinking about it! As for the kids, they grew so much this Winter that I need to get them a good pair of all-weather shoes/boots for the outdoor walking and sightseeing. I think with their Easter vacation starting this week, I'll take them shopping for last minute trip necessities this coming Thursday and get everything packed away sooner than later. For the rest of the day today, in my spare time, I'm going to do a few bookings - Tanya is going to kill me if I don't book something for our Toronto portion of our Cousins Niagara/Toronto Road Trip!! I also need to book our private rental in Vienna, which the owner has so kindly held for a few months without payment since I stayed there last year during my trip. I'll talk more about the specifics of our bookings for upcoming trips this Travelin' Tuesday! (Please remember to vote ---->>>---->>> I wish you a blessed day today!! -E xoxo | Tanya's Daily ScoopPalm Sunday in The AzoresHappy Palm Sunday Folks! Well, this trip is coming to an end and this will be the last morning that I'm staring out at this beautiful view. The last day of most my trips is generally bittersweet; Especially when the kids haven't come along - I miss them dearly and I can't wait to see them! But sometimes I really feel like a location scout for future trips with them. I come up with all of these wonderful ideas for trips with my big babies during my "scouting trip"! We've definitely had a spectacular trip and I'm sure this last day will be no less. I can hardly put into words how fabulous this trip has been, but I will...this upcoming week!! You're not gonna want to miss out on hearing my thoughts and feelings about this journey and why I plan on returning! Anyhow after spending several long days outdoors and a full day out on the sea sailing yesterday, where I took a turn at being Skipper! And we got to see plenty of Dolphins playing along side our boat! Dave managed to get a bit of a sunburn on his face to go with his rather sore body from all of our active activities! Last night he coined a term and said that he was "AZORED!" As for today, It's Palm Sunday, We're getting to experience springing forward for the second time! Yup, once in the States which was in early March. And the second is here on Sunday at 00:00-01:00. We'll be heading back to Vila Franca do Campo and up to Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Paz, which is located high up on the hillside behind the town. From here we will see the amazing panorama of Vila Franca, out to the coast and beyond. And then off to Ponta Delgada to finish some desperately needed souvenir shopping! I've already picked up some very special and unique to Sao Miguel gifts and treats to bring back to the clan! Which I hope that they like. And today I really do hope to find some more! This is not a touristy island whatsoever and I haven't bought enough goodies to bring back to my pack. I never go home empty handed! Wish me luck at finding some cool Azorean gifts to return with! Have a wonderful Sunday. See you back in the states, -T |
