Hectic Hump Day & Catching up with Tanya
WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY!!!
That's right - lots of sunshine and warm temps!! It's really feeling like Spring. As for me, I had a crazy morning. First of all, Kelsey had her 7th Grade Prayer Service at 8:30am this morning, so in lieu of my usual 'throw on leggings and a t-shirt to drive the kids to school' outfit, I got up extra early to shower, do my hair and get dressed, so I was prepared for her school event after dropping both kids off. Then, since today also happened to be a half-day for Kelsey due to Parent-Teacher conferences, I went back to her school to pick her up at 11am and bring her to the Religious Ed office to do the last stage of her community service hours. From there, I left for an hour to sit at Starbucks to bang out my latest article for this Friday's column in ThisIsTheBronx.info.
I finished up my article, then headed back to the Religious Ed office to collect Kelsey, have a quick meeting with her teacher and then... finally, head back home.
Of course, I wasn't able to relax for long, since she really wanted pizza and so I ordered a pie for pick up, after settling my girl in and hearing about her short school day. Whew! Cousins Chat! Today, Tanya and I had a chance to catch up via telephone. While my dear cuz was taking a chill day today after a VERY stressful two days in Phoenix, Arizona. But, I'll leave it for her to tell you all about it in her Scoop! We had a number of "business" issues to discuss, but of course, once we made contact voice to voice, we just went on and on updating each other on happenings during the past week. We were on the phone for well over an hour, during which, we didn't discuss one business issue! Then we had to squeeze all the points into like five minutes, since I had to get ready to take Gianna for her annual physical appointment. Thank goodness, we are both efficient and we managed to sort things out and set a plan for the coming days and week. We also began compiling our list of Vegan Eatery favorites, for which we both decided will be no easy task, narrowing down the list!! That's a wrap for me!! See ya back tomorrow! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
From Spring Training to Spring Skiing
HIYA everyone!
GREETINGS from Park City, Utah
I know I missed posting yesterday, but believe me, you will understand! And I'm just gonna get right to it and share with you that yesterday was one of the LONGEST days ever...
It all started around 4:15a in Phoenix when I would wake up (after only a few hours of sleep of course due to the stresses of Monday, which I still need to share) to take Dave to the airport and send him on his way back home - he will join us again on Friday night. After the drop off I went back to the hotel for a brief rest and then checked out and was on the road by 6:30a Dominic and I were heading towards Flagstaff and to Arizona Snowbowl to go skiing - about a 3 hour drive.
The resort was high in the San Francisco Mountains and while all the snow had melted off in town, the resort still had plenty of snow from their record breaking snowfall year.
There were no lines and the slopes were clear of much traffic.
Because of it being a Tuesday and the resort not being overly crowded, we were able to tour the mountain and all of its runs without any problem.
We had a lovely day skiing and when Cosette asked if we liked if I had told her that we did and that we wouldn't at all mind coming back.
Now on any other given day this would've been enough and time to go soak in the hot tub. But not us. Of course not. Because I admit that I'm a bit crazy in a zany sort of fun way. And apparently I like to exhaust myself. So after skiing we still had a bit of a road trip ahead of us. We were driving to Park City , Utah. While there were 3 driving options, I chose to take the longest one - almost 10 hours. I didn't want to drive on the secondary roads at night and it just being myself and Dominic. So we literally went from Flagstaff to Las Vegas which was over3.5 hours - had dinner in Vegas and then made our way to Park City - another 6 hours on the road.
Dominic would eventually become too tried and fall asleep. I would continue driving as I would belt out tunes and the singing would re-energize me.
When I had about 2 hours to go and it was already 1am in Utah, I had opted to take a shot of vitamin B-12 - for explosive long lasting energy.
Pulling into the parking lot of our resort at 3am local time. It was time to check in, unload and hit the sack.
Luckily we did not have to wake up early today!! Just reliving this is making me tired and on that note I'm gonna sign off, -Travelin' Tanya |
