On the Mend
I'm here! I'm here (said in the most enthusiastic voice possible)!
Dave says that I must've been a Doctor in my last life. I can be a bit naive, so I had to ask why?
And he tells me because Doctors make the worst patients!
Meanwhile I thought I was being a very good patient!
I stayed home all day yesterday. Took my herbal cocktails and syrups. Stayed uber hydrated. Rested up a storm. Used the frozen eye mask, inhaled my Olbas Oil with it's penetrating vapors that is from Switzerland
I did steam treatments. I ate. I thought I was a very good patient. But apparently there were other opinions. Whatever!
Last night I slept sitting upright all night long (I'm one of those who have been blessed to be able to sleep in just about any position) and this morning I woke up feeling a bit better than yesterday. My head still hurts without a doubt - just not quite as harshly. So I'm gonna allow the nursing for one more day and hopefully I'll be much closer to 100%!
But to tell you the truth, it really did not matter how icky I felt while awake, once I went to sleep I would sleep peacefully and undisturbed. And then the minute that I would wake up my head would be killing me and I'd have post nasal drip and stupid cough that would be the result of it.
Heck if it was only as simple as a simple cough. Each and every time I would cough my head would feel like there was someone on the inside pounding away with a sledgehammer wanting to get out. Quite awful!
All this down time is going to make for a very busy few days of Easter prep!!!! Although our plans for the day are to be out and about, including dinner - reservations were just made for The Fig and Olive in Newport Beach at Fashion Island.
Speaking of Fashion Island, let me do a little rewind here... While we were having brunch a Nami in Phoenix this past weekend, I spotted a pair of pants that I really liked. They were not on a hanger - Nami doesn't sell clothes. They were on a woman, and I had to comment on how much I liked them. I've been known to give compliments here and there! LOL
I've also been know to shop off and admire wardrobe items and accessories from live non-models/walker-bys/general population.
So back to Phoenix, the women was kind enough to tell me the story behind her purchase of the pants and where she bought them!!!
After a little bit of research (see I am feeling a bit better) I'm thrilled that I found them today - Bettona Jegging from Athleta. While I was about to purchase what was in my cart, I realized that these pants happen to be in stock at the Fashion Island location...no waiting for shipping!! Instant gratification :)
Well SCRATCH all of that!
I just took another peak at the pants online and noticed that, although it says it is available at the Fashion Island store it also says that it is online only in the color and size that I need. So I let my fingers do the dialing and I called the Fashion Island location.
They told me that they might have it in their online return section. After they took a look they had informed me that they already shipped the pants back. So I just went ahead and ordered them.
Another thing I found out this morning is that Dave C. has decided NOT to join us on the visiting trip back east in July. He is an odd one. We'll be visiting both sides of the family. So I'm not quite sure what his family is gonna think. I sort of feel bad for them.
Anyhow I'm gonna sign off now. I'll be back at ya tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya

25 Ways to Enjoy Leisure Time with Kids on Long Island
Hey guys! Sorry about yesterday and being MIA. I had actually started my blog and then I got side tracked with some VERY ANNOYING urgent matters!
I'm still annoyed. Since my divorce, I had to get new health insurance. Need I tell you how expensive and sucky all the health insurance is out there! Well, for budgetary and in-network doctors reasons, I opted for New York State's Health plan. And in a word - it SUCKS!
Until I sell my monstrosity of a house, which is quite expensive to upkeep and maintain, I'll get by on this shitty insurance. Basically, the only way it really pays off is if me or one of the kids (God-forbid) gets hit by a bus. In any case, they discontinued one of my daughters, for which I got a notice about yesterday.
Now, folks, are you ready to hear why? Are you ready for the sheer stupidity of the people running healthcare? My daughter Kelsey's name was listed with her full middle name on the policy and when they checked to verify her social security number with the social security office (another bunch of scholars), it was listed with only her initial. So, because they didn't "match" they determined that she was not "eligible." What a bunch of morons.
I was pretty fit to be tied as I had to go to the social security office to get a new card and guess what? None of my identification for Kelsey would "suffice" as evidence of her identity. So, I have to go back today with additional documentation to get this friggin card and then deal with the God-forsaken NYS of Health again.
Oh, did I mention that my visit to the urgent care the other night for Gianna was also not covered - yup! $150 later. It's total BS. Ok - rant over! It could always be worse.
Well, it seems it's becoming a pattern lately that my Monday feature is not published until Tuesday lol. I am happy to provide you with the link to today's article in Elisa's Long Island and Travelin' 25:
Lovely bike riding along the 2.2 mile Long Beach boardwalk (credit: patch.com)
I just get so amazed when I realize how many fun and inspiring things there are to do with kids here on Long Island. No one that either lives here or is visiting should ever have a dull moment - enjoying activities that range from the mundane and simple to the unusual and exciting!
I did my best to detail more than the usual tourist attractions for spending time with your youngsters!!
Please leave comments about what you think!!
Another thing I included in my article was AMC's $5 Ticket Tuesday. Well, guys, today is Tuesday - read more about it in today's article (CLICK HERE).
Going to see how much homework Kelsey has later, since he has been patiently asking me to go see a A Wrinkle in Time. Hopefully, we'll make it there today!
Last but not least, me and the girls got a new "toy."
My new Aroma Diffuser (c) travelincousins.com
We have been talking about getting an oil diffuser for months - why it has taken so long, I don't have a clue. Yesterday, we finally received our new aroma diffuser from Amazon and we LOVE it!! Eucalyptus was the scent of the day yesterday and today, Lemon is filling the air!!
It also turns colors as it refreshes the house with a glorious scent!
Only 6 days to our mini trip to Hudson, New York. Can't wait. The good thing is that these short trips are an easy pack.
Going to make some mushroom barley soup for this evening - have a terrific day!!
