Rescheduling Seeing In The Heights & Suggested Gratuities Around the World
It's Saturday again!! Wow - this week went fast, with all the crazy weather, here on Long Island.
But, last night - what a night. We had all gone upstairs to bed at around 10:30. I was getting ready to drift off to sleep when Gianna came into my room very distressed.
Her throat was really hurting, she was so stuffed up and congested that she felt as if she couldn't breathe.
Off we went to PM Pediatrics. For those of you who are not family with PM Pediatrics, it is a walk-in pediatric clinic that is opened until midnight.
I couldn't have asked for a nicer urgent care staff than the folks at PM Pediatrics in Carle Place, Long Island!
What I liked best about our doctor was that she was such a strong proponent of natural remedies!! In fact, I learned something I never knew before - I've always put Vicks vapor rub into hot water for doing steam. But, this doctor suggested that we boil the water with the Vicks and then pour it into a pot to inhale the steam. It was soo much more effective!!
In any case, the good news is that Gianna just has a bad cold - no strep, no infection. The bad news is that my health insurance sucks! This place took everything - even my insurance - but NOT my plan. So, $150 later, at 12:30AM, we were on our way back home.
All worth it and all good because I was calmer that her lungs were clear, no strep and we were doing all the right things, and Gianna's mind was put at ease as well.
She felt a little better this morning, so it looks like she is on the mend.
As you may recall, Kelsey and I were supposed to see a matinee today of In The Heights at the John W. Engeman Theatre at Northport.
Obviously, there is no way I was going to leave Gianna home alone feeling so ill. I decided to call the theatre to see if I could reschedule our tickets. Can I tell you just how gracious the folks were at this theatre box office! They immediately switched out our tickets for today's performance for an alternative date I selected in April. Whew! That was easy.
But, telling Kelsey was another thing. She was disappointed but really understood that I would never leave either of my girls alone if they were sick.
Instead, I will take her out locally for a little bit so we have time together. I'll let you know tomorrow what we decided to do.
