NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 21 DAYS

City Center, Salt Lake City

HIYA!!

I just noticed, there are only 3 weeks left till we leave for London!!! YAY!

A little update on my "toes" - if you remember, I BANGED them yesterday into the doggie gate.
Well, after much icing yesterday, I'm happy to say, I really feel so much better.

My little tootsies are not 100% but way better than yesterday - so I'm extremely optimistic about the prospect of healing all the way within the next few days.
Picture
Onward...I have one of those days today.  TONS of errands and places to be.

Gianna has play rehearsal till 4pm but Kelsey will be arriving home at the usual time, so I want to be sure I get all my errands completed before she walks in and wants to eat and needs to get her homework done.

Now, today, we are also scheduled to hit the mall since Gianna has not one, but two birthday parties this weekend!  When it rains it pours!!

We need to get some birthday gifts and I promised the kids we'd look around a bit for clothing and sneakers.  Their dad is going to meet us at the mall to have dinner, as Wednesday is his normally scheduled weekly visit with them.

I'll get a few things done while they are eating and then the three of us will head home.

DID YOU READ ABOUT TANYA AND COSETTE GETTING CHASED BY AN ANGRY GOOSE???

I was at the gym last night when Tanya and I were texting and she was telling me about their little encounter with this angry bird!

Pretty crazy!

This trip to Park City is just Tanya and Cosette - a real mother and daughter bonding time!  Tanya told me that because the weather is not right for skiing in Park City, the two gals are going to head over to Salt Lake City to City Creek Center.

I was not aware just how close Salt Lake City was to Park City and lucky for the girls, it offers a fun alternative with shopping, sites and restaurants!

I thought I'd tell you bit about this shopping area  and then you can get the full account of Tanya's visit there in tomorrow's blog

CITY CREEK CENTER

Located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City is a "shopping experience like no other" according to the Shop City Creek Center website.

This retail centerpiece is one of the nation's largest mixed-use downtown redevelopment projects and
features a retractable glass roof, a creek that runs through the property, a pedestrian skybridge and more!

What a unique shopping environment!

This world-class fashion and dining destination offers over 100 stores and restaurants including Nordstrom, Macy's, Tiffany & Co., Michael Kors, Coach, and Texas de Brazil Churrascaria, in a casual, pedestrian-friendly environment.

The City Creek Center opened to the general public on March 22, 2012.

It is a full complex containing shopping, office and residential center and encompasses nearly 20 acres  of downtown Salt Lake City.

The City Creek Center is part of an estimated $5 billion sustainable design project to revitalize downtown Salt Lake City and the City Creek Center project itself has been estimated to cost around $1.5 billion.

A few of the unique features include

The Skybridge
The skybridge connects the 2 upper floors of the shopping center across Main Street and acts as a pedestrian connector.

The structure itself weighs 320,000 pounds and includes roof panels that can be opened, glass walls and interior benches. The skybridge itself is located directly above the City Creek Center's TRAX light rail station.

City Creek Running Through City Creek Center
Inspiration for this commercial space came from the town’s original City Creek to create a 1.2 km waterway  running through the property as a pedestrian-oriented green space. In other words, City Creek actually runs through the center!

Landscape Architecture
This unique shopping destination integrates shopping and residential elements, with foliage-lined walkways and streams covering three blocks in the heart of downtown Salt Lake.

Other elements of the landscape design support the overall concept of urban living, with pocket parks, roof gardens, and landscape connections throughout the project.

I cannot wait to see Tanya's photos tomorrow close up and personal!!

Picture
You know, interestingly enough, I had no idea who said this very famous quote!  Very cool to find out after 52 years on this planet!!

Speaking of pictures and shopping - since both Tanya and I are going on little shopping excursions today, I'll share some pictures from mine later today with you on my blog tomorrow.

Our shopping will be local at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York.

Nearly a thousand people assembled at Roosevelt Field to see Charles Lindbergh take off in the Spirit of St Louis, May 20, 1927 (credit: wiki)
Now, unlike City Creek Center, Roosevelt Field has quite a historic background here on Long Island dating back over 100 years as an airfield. In fact, it was brought international fame on May 20, 1927, when Charles Lindbergh departed in the Spirit of St. Louis, the first solo transatlantic flight from Roosevelt Field, New York to Paris.

Well, dear ones, I'm going to sign off and continue this very busy and exhilarating day!

Please catch up on Tanya's full account in today's blog as she continues on Day 3 of her Park City, Utah trip!!

Toodles,
-E
xoxo

CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN:
PARK CITY, UTAH

We were CHASED!!!

GREETINGS once again from Park City, Utah!

Well I wish I could report that we had a fabulous day on the slopes yesterday - but I can't do that.

It was rather on the warm side and too darn windy for me to even attempt enjoying a day of skiing.

I can say that we had a fabulous day doing other stuff...

Like strolling around the resort...

I had visited this lovely park last year with Dominic, so I figured that Cosette might enjoy it.

Memories of A Day in Midway

We brought some bread crumbs to feed the birds and had a bit of an unexpected adventure while doing so...

Here I will share with you some of my texts to Elisa and to Dave B. in sharing this event after the fact:

"Got chased by a very mean goose!"
Picture
The mean one (c)travelincousins.com
"We totally got chased and run down by a goose a few times where we were literally running away from this crazy beast who was being incredibly territorial and we weren't even near him!..."

"I'm sure he acts this way because of perhaps how other people have been and maybe they've even destroyed some nests or something but he is seriously a beast!"

I have seen and been very pissed off by how some poorly raised kids treat birds - whether they be ducks, geese, pigeons, you name it - it is a very sad and despicable behavior.

And yes he was in fact protecting where his mate was building a nest.

Back to the story:

"I am talking about us running away from this thing as he's chasing and hissing at us!    Cosette had even jumped on a picnic table to try to get away from him and at one point the poor thing was nearly crying."
Picture
After being chased(c)travelincousins.com
"She was also so worried about me and I was seriously running from this thing - not jogging away from him RUNNING!"

"It was awful!   I'm laughing about it now because it didn't just happen.    But we were so scared of this stupid bird!"

Then after lunch we briefly returned to the park:

"We just went back to the visitor center and the darn goose remembered Cosette and chased her into the visitor center and then stood by the door waiting for her to exit!"

I'm telling you we need a reality show nobody would believe this craziness unless they saw it.

And watching it would've been hilarious! Being chased on the other hand was ehhh scary and not so hilarious!

After those shenanigans we decided to stroll up and down the historic Main Street of Park City.

Next up was heading down to Salt Lake City - about a 25 minute to half hour drive.

I was hoping that we'd catch a lovely sunset over the Great Salt Lake - the same way that Dominic and I had (last year).

From the Slopes to the Great Salt Lake

However, as you can see - the conditions weren't quite the same...

But we did decide that we'll come back on Friday!

Lastly it was time for dinner. And although we had plans, for some reason we started to sway from them and think about other options. This was a mistake!
Because all it did was cause us to be indecisive and we had to leave it up to Elisa to choose for us! LOL

She opted for our original plan of going for Pizza!

Today is a rainy day and although I love rainy days - they are much better received when we are not on a ski trip...
However with that being said - I saw this one coming (in the forecast) and we planned ahead for our rainy day - of which we will spend in Salt Lake City and tell ya all about it tomorrow.

For now please check out Elisa's column on
What to do in Salt Lake City on a Rainy Day!

Catch ya guys tomorrow,
-T
