Elisa's Daily ScoopA Day of RestHowdy folks!! Well, it's been a very packed week! Today, is a sweat pant and sneakers kinda day and I am very psyched about it! Just Relaxing... The kids have book reviews to catch up and I've instructed them to focus on school work today. I think with all the activity this weekend, the girls are more than happy to just sit still. I made sauce earlier in the week so I have a pretty easy dinner to prepare today. Sunday just isn't Sunday without sauce and pasta for an Italian! Denise and I made plans to meet up for a little Girls' Starbucks coffee klatch today - no kids, no husbands, no housework, not rushing to work and errands - just hanging, chatting and laughing. BUT, then her hubby, Marcelo woke up sick and so she stayed home to nurse him. I decided to just go food shopping and get a jump o the week's errands. Fun Run Yesterday was the Fun Run at the girls' school. I was a little surprised it was a-go since there was still a great deal of snow and slush all over. The girls and Tedd were signed up for the 1-mile run (there was also a 5K, but none of my gang were planning to run it). Here's what Gianna had to say about it: 75th Anniversary Gala... It was supposed to be a lovely Spring night...lol....that was the plan when the 75th Anniversary Gala for the girls' school was planned for March 21st. Who knew Long Island would get dumped with a snow storm on the first day of Spring! I had planned to wear a very "springy" dress originally. But, then I decided on a black one instead since it just didn't feel like Spring yet. The event was held at the The Garden City Country Club and the Gala committee did a fabulous job! The prizes for the Chinese auction were great! I really had my heart set on winning the new American Girl Doll, Grace, for Gianna and Kelsey. I put so many raffle tickets in, that I was overly optimistic about winning. Unfortunately, it didn't happen - Boo. But, I did win tickets to the Dr. Oz show! I also won the silent auction for the items created by both Gianna and Kelsey's class to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the school! I'm going to surprise the girls in the morning with these! After a fun-filled night, we weren't ready to go home, so Denise and Marcello and me and Tedd headed to the diner for a late night snack. When I got home I was still very revved up and stayed up till 2am working on my Daily and uploading pictures. I am looking forward to a relaxing day today since tomorrow I have to take Gianna to the oral surgeon to have her cracked tooth extracted. I'm really not looking forward to this at all. I know she is nervous and I'm hoping that she has a speedy recovery. Here's to a restful Sunday!! Hope you are following Tanya's daily blogging and vlogging while in Boston, before taking off to being her trip to the Azores!! See ya back here tomorrow for the start of a brand new week! Please remember to vote-->>-->> -E xoxo | Tanya's Daily ScoopAnother Funday for SundayGreetings from my last day here on this trip to Boston! I can't very well say that it's my last day in Boston...as I always manage to come back here just each about every summer! Let me fill ya in on the SCOOP! Starting with yesterday: What an absolutely great day it was! At the start of the morning the city was awfully quiet and although it was the 2nd day of spring, it was snowing and winter was apparently digging her heels in and not wanting to leave just yet. The snow covered the city in a beautiful blanket of white. There was a mesmerizing calmness. Snowflakes fell on my nose and eyelashes. After walking along the banks of the frozen Charles River our first stop was brekkie at Veggie Galaxy in Cambridge. No wait time for us, but within minutes of us sitting down the entire waiting area of this popular vegetarian diner had filled up! This strange occurrence continued to happen throughout the day. We would arrive to a fairly quiet sight and then out of nowhere it seemed like bus loads of people would show up...now being that we're not in Peru I had my doubts that these hoards were all there to see me! (See the link - FAMOUS IN PERU) But luckily we managed to stay in front of the crowds (without even trying), where ever we went, and we went and went and went! We trekked the city from 8a-6:35p and as much as I miss my kiddos, my princess Cosette would've hated the extent that we were on foot yesterday! She would've complained bunches 'n bunches, and which would've led to me getting frustrated with her and her eventually getting a penalty inflicted upon her. All the running around is actually and probably why there are a lot of friends and family members who avoid traveling with me! LOL When we returned to the hotel for a short break and to change for dinner Dave collapsed on the bed, and since dinner was 8+ miles away and we've already walked over a half marathon - I was able to justify taking a cab! Lol However jsyk (just so you know) if it were slightly earlier I would've been totally into walking there - I still had plenty of energy to go around! Well, I watched the sunrise and I watched the sunset. Heck, if I had stayed awake much later last night, I would've watched sunrise this morning as well and on only the sleep that I got on the flight over. That's my idea of a vacation alright! As for TODAY: We are heading to what is expected to be a fantastic brunch, and then over to the USS Constitution - "Old Ironside" as she is known by schoolchildren. Which I chose to bump from yesterdays itinerary, in order to give us more ample time touring the wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy. Named by President George Washington after the Constitution of the United States of America. Launched in 1797, the boat is the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat! We'll also be heading over to the Granary Burying Ground, dating back to 1660 and the final resting place of many of Boston's most historic - Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock just to name a few. A fun little indulgence will be Afternoon Tea at our Hotel - The Langham. London is where it's at, and boy how I have missed these! After tea, we will catch the best views of the city at magic hour from the top of the Prudential Tower's Observation Deck. Finally we'll head to dinner and then off to the airport to catch our flight to The Azores. Which is where you'll hear from me next! Hope you have a GREAT day, -T |
