BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
Featuring Mary Higgins ClarkWell hello there - Can I say just how happy I am that today is Friday and the weekend is finally here! I just don't know if I am coming or going. I have had so many appointments - doctors, house-related, school-related, as well as article deadlines, phone calls and kid-related errands, that I literally feel as if I blinked my eyes and the week is gone. In fact, I missed posting yesterday and Wednesday, when I posted after being MIA on Tuesday - I was in such a rush, I forgot to hit publish, so my Scoop never showed up when our email went out! Click here to read all about my day at the movies on Tuesday seeing Captain Marvel!!
As for today and my weekly Friday article for ThisIsTheBronx.info, I thought it would be fun to combine Women's History Month with the Bronx. The result, is an article about the best-selling author, Mary Higgins Clark.
Did you know that she is from the Bronx and moreover, from her humble beginnings she has become one of the best-selling authors of all time - with more than 100 million of her books being sold worldwide!
What's more is that this accomplished lady was also a flight attendant back in the late 1940's for Pan American which allowed her to travel throughout Europe, Asia and Africa during her one-year as a stewardess!
In fact, she worked on the last flight allowed into Czechoslovakia before the Iron Curtain fell! Additionally, she was also the stewardess to escort a four-year-old orphan down the steps of the airplane to meet her longingly waiting adoptive mother, a moment that was massively televised. And if this wasn't enough, Ms. Higgins Clark also raised five children as a single mom, earned her BA in Philosophy from Fordham University, graduating summa cum laude in 1979. Remarkable woman -read the full article. With the weekend here, this is still no rest lol, but at least we don't have the schedule of school. This weekend, both Gianna and Kelsey will be doing more community service, volunteering their time at Jo-Mar Grooming to help with the fur babies. I'll try to make good use of the time by writing and catching up on some TC business - namely, finalizing our schedule of Guest Bloggers. I'm off and running, again. See ya back here tomorrow!! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
California Super Bloom and Mont Tremblant
Well guys Happy Friday to you! And the countdown to my birthday is only a mere 4 days away!!! Yippee
But our darn oven is on the fritz and hasn't been working for a few days now. This poses an issue being that I had recruited Cosette to make my birthday cake. My dear Cosette had made us vegans a vegan Limoncello cake for Huey's bday when my sis made him his own non-vegan Limoncello cake. Well I say his own, but all the non-vegans ate that one and all us vegans ate and fell in love with the cake that Cosette made. Immediately, I knew that I wanted that cake for my birthday. Limoncello is the bomb dot com. Even Chaplin had made a request for her mom to make her a Limoncello cake for her April birthday. In fact, my little niece didn't like the idea that I was planning on having it on my birthday and wanted me to choose a different cake altogether! No can do. That is the ONLY cake that I want and I'm sticking to it. Why on earth would she not want to have the cake on my birthday and on her birthday?!
Just since we published yesterday I have came across an article from Conde Nast Traveler that I want to share with you:
How to See California's Super Bloom 1) With all of the rain that California has received this season, it's not wonder that hills are alive with the colors of the rainbow in what is considered a super bloom.
As you know both Elisa and I love flowers. I'm hoping to have the opportunity to go and catch the super bloom for myself before all the insects strip the colors away.
It's another windy day here and I'm not a fan of such weather - be it hot or cold. I have an overload of laundry to tackle. Both clean and dirty. Packed and unpacked. At this point I'm being closed in by clothes and need to do something about it before it comes time to pack for my next trip. I was invited to go on a trip to Mont Tremblant with my friend Jodie. But considering the already plan packed weekend, my Tuesday Birthday and then our trip to Arizona next Saturday. The timing just didn't work out for me to go on that fun ski trip. What I will do however is share a few FLASHBACK FRIDAY photos of when we visited Mont Tremblant a few years ago.
