Pushing and Pedaling

Well Hello Hello! 
                    Greetings from Lake Tahoe!

Arriving in Reno yesterday

First things first, I'd like to say how exciting it was to hear that American Pharoah won the Belmont Stakes yesterday...
Giving him the TRIPLE CROWN title! 
The first in 37 years!!!

I was hoping to watch the race, but low and behold that wasn't in the cards and I found out getting the results from Elisa! 
If you also missed it, be sure and read all about it on Elisa's side and she's even put up a video clip of the race!

As for why I missed it, 
Well as you know we arrived up here yesterday and boy was I kinda sleepy! Ugh 
But being that I am the type to stick to plans. We with headed straight for South Shore Bikes Shop to pick up some bikes and then head on a warm up ride...
 
Ok so we kinda screwed up. 
I didn't think about reserving bikes for the ride. 
I didn't know that you do that sort of thing. 
I figured that everyone else was riding their own bike (like we usually do). 


Well figuring is the same as assuming and you know just as well as I do what it does...

So although they were totally sold out (the entire city was sold out) of road bikes! 

We sampled some cruisers - which I was rather unhappy with and had no clue how I was suppose to ride all of the planned miles in that upright (weird biking) position. 
Finally after testing the bikes we decided that we will manage and make do with mountain bikes.

Dave took a look at the map, and off we went!

Meanwhile, the weather/temperature makes a world of a difference for me. The heat just zaps all of my energy and I was pretty darn warm pedaling up out past a Renaissance Faire (and plenty of dressed up folks), Camp Richardson and Fallen Leaf Lake Road. 
It was beautiful the entire time, but after it cooled, it was lovely!

And on our way back I had to remember to keep my mouth shut tight, unless I felt like eating (hundreds of) gnats!

And before making it all the way back, I had my eye on a tree that needed a hug.

This is fun!

Once we were finally back Dave had commented "No wonder I'm exhausted each day!"
I asked "Why?"
He expleined "Cause they're all packed with so much STUFF!"
HAHAHA - that's what ya get when ya hang out with meeee ;)

We did at least 14+ miles, which will bring our 2 day total to at least 50 miles! 

I know that it's still less than the other 2 rides that some of the less wuzzy riders are doing today - but it's good enough for me!

Anyhoo, we grabbed some dinner (nothing to write home about) and then finally went to check in! 

That's for us!

Realizing we had no cash for tips we ran into the casino for an ATM and found out that you can withdraw up to $3,000 in a single transaction! 
Umm my local ATM limits me to around $500. LOL

As for today, well we're gonna be pedaling away!
It should be beautiful - since it is America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride!

Triple Crown Winner

Howdy Folks! Sunday here!!

How is your weekend going?  I had a great Saturday.  I was totally stoked for the Belmont Stakes yesterday!

I raced (no pun intended) to get all my commitments and errands done in time to be in front of the television by 6:40, which was the originally scheduled Post Time at Belmont Park.

In the end, the race started at 6:51.
Eight Contenders, including American Pharoah, who was hoping to grab the Triple Crown, having come in first at The Kentucky Derby and Preakness for this racing season and...HE WON!!!!!
WHAT AN EXCITING RACE!!

The weather couldn't have been better - sunshine, not too hot and those horses looked amazing coming out of the gate!!

I was so THRILLED for Victor Espinoza, the jockey who brought American Pharoah to victory - winning by 5-1/2 lengths.

The rest of the evening, we hung out at Danielle's house.  She had immediate family over for my brother-in-law, Carlos' birthday.

The kids had a blast in the pool, while we adults just hung around shooting the breeze, having lots of laughs.

It was a very relaxing evening and the kids were wiped out from being in the pool all evening.

My sister has two dogs, one of which is "Minnie."  She is the sweetest little thing and I really needed to cuddle with this little sweetie with the huge, empty hole I have from losing Liberty.  

We bonded throughout the entire evening!!

How exciting is it that Tanya is away again?!  In Lake Tahoe this weekend.

As she mentioned, she goes there every year in the Winter to ski, but this is her first time visiting in the warm weather.
