Tanya's Daily Scoop TRIP COUNTDOWN Next Trip Departs: TODAY
This Girl is a Traveller!
Greetings from RENO, Nevada! Yup I just landed in - "The Biggest Little City in the World!"
Dave and I flew up this morning and are heading straight up to South Lake Tahoe.
I've been coming up to Lake Tahoe on ski trips annually (at the least) for the last 13+ years, and yet I've never visited in the summer...
On one hand I'm kinda excited to see it in the summer, but on the other hand I really love the atmosphere as the beautiful white winter wonderland that I know it as... So I hope that I don't get depressed from seeing it bare and without any snow. We shall see.
Last night was a blast. It was a real hoot!
We had a great time at the IPC (International Peace Choir) year end celebration and awards ceremony. Dominic received his honors for being an IPC peace ambassador for 10 years, and Cosette got hers for being an ambassador for 8 years.
Dave was welcomed onto the "new" Board of Directors, and I was titled Secretary - ugh what have I got myself into?!
I put in my time as Vice President. I stepped down, as I did not want to be Board President. And I was perfectly happy with just being a member at large. But nooo I had to agree that I would put my name on the ballot for the position on Secretary. Eeesh!
The group had also participated in an Anti-Bullying campaign, making a pledge and then taking tons of "photo booth" pictures that will be used in the final campaign. Kids of all ages (meaning parents and grandparents too) had tons of fun with this!
Then after a quick stop at Veggie Grill - because these kids are always hungry! And back home to finish throwing the last few things in our suitcases.
And back to today... Just as soon as we get up to the lake we will be heading on our first bike ride of the weekend. We're not gonna do anything too strenuous and tire ourselves out for tomorrow's big ride. Just something fun & probably under 10 miles.
THEN... I'm hoping to have the opportunity to catch the Belmont Stakes on the boob tube LIVE.
DID YOU KNOW that my Grandparents and Mom was at Belmont Race Track for 1973 race when Secretariat won the Triple Crown!Pretty cool huh?!
I use to always go to Belmont Race Track with my Grandparents. That race track holds many fond memories for me. The most recent time was for Father's Day back in 2007 with my beloved Grandfather (he loved the races), Dominic and Cosette. Good times!!!
The Family Festival at Belmont with my Grandfather
Ok, think I'm gonna leave you on that note. And wish you a wonderful Saturday, with plenty of new memories in the making!
And one more thing that I just can't ignore - LOOK at those ADORABLE "Pup"cakes that my cousin Gianna made yesterday! They are sooo darn cute and I'm sure that they were yummy too! I've had her (vegan) cupcakes before, and they were definite WINNERS in my book!
I'll be back tomorrow to check in with you before heading out on the Americas Most Beautiful Bike Ride.
Greetings from Manorville, Long Island on this first Saturday in June!
Today me and my gang were up and out early!
Gianna has an all-day Spa Party for one of her friends today, so I dropped her off at 8am before heading out to the barn for Kelsey's half-day of horseback riding. Boy, do I need a day to sleep in!!
LIBERTY (AUGUST 1, 2001 - MAY 11, 2015
Yesterday was a bit of a sad day. I had to pick up my Liberty girl's ashes from the vet. Walking back into the office brought back all the terribly sad memories from the night of May 11th when I lost my beloved girl.
Gianna decided to bake some "Pup"Cakes for Dr. Silverman, our amazing vet, for all he did to help her the night she passed. She had planned to make a full batch for the wonderful techs that were there that night as well as for the entire staff, but we ran out of time, as their office closes at 6pm on Fridays.
GIANNA BAKING "PUP"CAKES for DR. JOSEPH SILVERMAN AT GARDEN CITY PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL
An impression was taken of Liberty's paw after she died and I received that yesterday along with her ashes. I thought I would be okay, but I began to cry after talking to one of the lovely techs in the office. I still have a hard time getting my arms around the idea that she is gone forever.
LIBERTY'S PAW PRINT IMPRESSION
Today, is a pretty busy day. After Kelsey rides, I'll be heading back to get my hair done, then picking up Gianna from her party and heading over to my sister's house for a little get together for my brother-in-law Carlo's birthday.
I have a feeling I'm going to be very tired by the time we arrive. It's run, run, run today.
ARE YOU WATCHING the Belmont Stakes today??
Today, this magnificent creature, American Pharoah, will go for the Triple Crown. Not since Affirmed, 37 years ago, did a horse win the Triple Crown, and American Pharoah is the 14th horse to go for this special place since 1978.
AMERICAN PHAROAH'S FINAL GALLOP YESTERDAY:
Here are the details if you are a racing enthusiast or just love to watch these magnificent creatures!! Date: Saturday, June 6 (Today) Post Time: 6:40 p.m. ET Location: Belmont Park, Elmont, New York Distance: 1 1/2 miles

I was heartbroken last year when California Chrome lost after having claimed victory at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Let's see if American Pharoah can do it in 2015!!
