The Longest Day of the Year deserves to be a FULL one!Well as it turns out, we didn't go to the stables yesterday after-all, because Cosette's trainer was bed ridden with what she thought was a back injury, by later in the day she said that the pain had moved and she was at the hospital emergency room. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her for a speedy recovery to whatever she is going through. I will update as I get updated. Another thing we didn't do yesterday was go to see Jersey Boys the Movie. My mom wants to come see it with us, so we are all going tonight! I did manage to continue much research and planning for our trip back east next month, as well as for our trip to the UK in August. Very FUN stuff!!! This morning after going to breakfast at FreesoulCaffe (I'm getting a Waffle!); Dominic is going to try going back to his Athletic classes, as he feels that his wrist is feeling better. After that, we plan on heading to the La Brea Tar Pits (the kids have never been, and I was probably somewhere around Dominic's age the one and only time that I went). Then dinner at Shojin (vegan sushi!!!), as per request of Dominic & Cosette...they actually agreed on this one!! Look out for a future Foodie Friday review on this place! Ranked as one of the Top Vegan Restaurants in LA! Then, then, then, I decided that we will forgo dessert at Shojin and (I couldn't help it) add a visit to Donut Friend! I was just there last Sunday and it was just THAT GOOD! Finally, we will head back to the OC and catch Jersey Boys the Movie with my Mumsy! Here's what I always say: " If you love life, life will love you back." Til tomorrow, -T | Sun, Sun & FunHow great was it getting up this morning knowing that school is over - such a relaxed feeling! So, lots to tell this morning! First of all we had so much fun last night at the movies! I have to tell you, it felt like a private screening for Jersey Boys because Danielle Gaudio-Lalehzar had invited such a large crowd! We arrived to the theatre over 30 minutes early and there was already a long line inside waiting for Jersey Boys. Got great seats (although, mine was permanently in a reclined position which was a little annoying). Ok, so what is my opinion of this long awaited movie?? I thought they did a very good job of translating the play version to the big screen. The cast was terrific and the actors really made you feel like you were back in Jersey! Natural accents, amazing voices - kudos to the casting director! John Lloyd Young was adorable and unlike the play, it was fun to see him change and age through the years. Of course, all of us (me, Rebecca and Gianna) were hyper sensitive to everything - the story, the acting, the actors, the settings - because we had a preconceived idea of everything from seeing the amazing, and I do mean amazing, play. (see Confessions of a Jersey Boys Junkie for my review). It is like reading a book and then seeing the movie. In any case, I would see it again and had a thoroughly enjoying time. The audience was an intimate crowd - laughing, clapping, woohoo-ing. A big round of applause at the end with the credits to Bob Gaudio (and Bob Crewe) for music. Fun, fun, fun is all I can say. Tedd wants to see it again, so I'll be joining him probably some time in the next week. Is anyone going to The NYC Food and Wine Festival? It takes place October 16-19. Tickets for the events officially go on sale June 24th, but you can get early bird specials now at the website, NYCWFF. Tickets are not cheap to the events, but I plan to attend at least one. Just got my tickets to Down Home Cooking Brunch with Trisha Yearwood. Anyone interested in joining us?? If you are going to be in New York, the Food and Wine Festival is something you should consider attending - at least one day!! I've gone in years past and it's a nice way to spend a day. JSYK, all you west-coasters, don't miss the Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival, August 21-24! The next few weeks are chock full of activities here on Long Island. This Tuesday, I'm taking all the kids (Gianna and Kelsey and my nephews, Nolan and Julian) to Adventureland Amusement Park. They've never been, and looking forward to going! On Wednesday, I will be going to see Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill with Tony Winner, Audra McDonald. Then, on Thursday, I'm planning to go back into the city again, with the girls for a Cupcake Tour! Lots of fun to look forward to!! Today, I will be working on article submissions - will keep you posted as they are published!! Now, off for my walk on this gorgeous, breezy Saturday morning!! And here is a quote, than none other than Trisha Yearwood's husband... "Just keep taking chances and having fun." - Garth Brooks -E |
