Ralph's Ices Summer Challenge and Pittsburgh Summer Trip Planning
A big hello to you!
With the official start of summer tomorrow (Gianna has her last final exam and Kelsey is all done today), I am fast and furiously planning my summer fun!
And add to that a Summer Challenge - Try All Flavors at Ralph's Ices! Yes actually, this was my sister Danielle's idea. So, our goal is going to attack the menu, one flavor at a time, each night of the summer. With well over 25 water ice flavors, this should be fun! Of course, Ralph's has a plethora of creme-based ices and even ice cream, but they are not vegan, so I will live vicariously through Danielle and her gang as they try everything and anything from the menu!! In travel news... Since I decided to (sadly) cancel our trip to Sicily this month due to Dad being sick, I just had to figure out something local and fun to do. I'm actually working on a possible trip toPittsburgh, PA. I've been wanting to visit this Pennsylvania town, ever since I did a story about it back in September, 2016. Yesterday, I spent some time researching more and planning out a potential road trip, with stops along the way throughout the state, which would more than likely involve an over night stay along the way to our final destination and undoubtedly, lots of eateries, food and eating!!
Pittsburgh was named one of America's most livable cities in 2015!
AND... According to TripAdvisor, "Pittsburgh has been remade and reimagined. Think 24 miles of riverfront trails, beautiful parks and historic attractions. Home to 90 neighborhoods, the ‘Burgh feels authentic and unpretentious. No visit is complete without a trip to the Strip District or PNC Park, a ride up the Duquesne Incline or a stop at The Andy Warhol Museum. Architecture buffs love Pittsburgh for the amazing downtown buildings. Hollywood producers, do, too—the city has even been called the “Hollywood of the East."
When it comes to food, there is no shortage either!! In fact, there's even a site dedicated to the food scene that Pittsburgh has to offer!
Good Food Pittsburgh was launched by founder Emily Catalano, in 2014 as a way to share all of the good food news that her hometown had to offer - and this includes Vegan eats!!! From a late night Vegan pop-up to a vegan bakery, as well as an all-new vegan ice cream shop, my little trio will have a blast eating our way through the city! Once I finalize my itinerary and figure out my travel dates, I'll share the full plan with you. For now, here is what is on the radar for this 3-4 day trip:
- Randyland - The National Aviary - Just Ducky Tours - Saint Paul's Cathedral - Market Square - Byham Theatre Now, I just have to work up a day-by-day itinerary. Lastly, as you know, Tanya will be arriving in New York tomorrow and we are trying to sort out the best time to get together and have alittle Cousins' Reunion! More tomorrow, -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
