Tanya's Daily Scoop
CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN: NEW YORK
A Day at Assateague National Seashore
The gang took a fun road trip yesterday from Virginia Beach to Assateague Island and then up to New York.
GREETINGS from New York!!
I finally made it to Assateague Island! After hearing about it many many moons ago, and then having it recently brought back to my attention last year when Elisa was doing some research and it wet my appetite... You know how it goes after that! I plan it and hafta do it!!!
Well before I get on with the events of the day, I'm gonna come straight out and share some very disappointing news with you...
As you have probably noticed Elisa has not been joining us on here. She's been having a pretty bad week. Nothing is going right for her and it seems like everything is going wrong.
So after not hearing from her for a few days I began to wonder... I knew something had to be up or in this case down. As much as I didn't want to I sent Elisa this text
"Let me ask you... are you guys for sure going on the road trip?"
And lo and behold Elisa and the girls have to cancel. YIKES!
Things must be bad for her to cancel on us. And it makes things on my side quite complicated. As my plans and bookings for this trip was all scheduled and planned around doing this road trip with Elisa and the girls.
Initially disappointment had set in and then realization struck and the technicalities and particulars that would be effected without Elisa and the girls coming.
We are leaving Hew Hampshire on Monday morning. I will be driving Dominic and Dave to Logan International Airport and they will be heading to Los Angeles. Dominic will be meeting up with us in Miami later the following weekend with Birdwald Ponypants. He chose to leave us based on the fact that with all of the driving we are already doing, that he did not want to do another road trip.
After dropping of the boys, we are heading to Philly to drop off our rental. This is where Elisa and the girls were intending to meet us and we'd all continue to begin the now CANCELLED Cousins Road Trip to Chicago.
Well now after a bit of scrambling and researching as to our best option to get us (Cosette and I) from Philly to Chicago, I have chosen for us to take a bit of a rail adventure and for us to take a train to Chicago!
This trip is turning out to be a trip of Plan B's - or at least teaching us to be flexible and/or to always have a Plan B ready to go. Because you may or may not already know it our plans for this coming weekend has also had it's share of hiccups! It's all good. I will go with the flow (sort of). I'm a strong believer in trusting that everything happens for a reason. So I'm not mad and I will make the best of what ever situation that is presented to me.
The one additional disappointing thing that this situation had me concerned about was Elisa and my 2018 plan to go to Croatia. Well if there is any chance of something like this happening - I do not want to be stuck out in Croatia solo. I love traveling solo. But I'm just not feeling a solo trip to Croatia. So as of now the Croatia trip has been CANCELLED.
Now please enjoy the pictures from our visit to Assateague Island National Seashore:
Storm tossed seas, as well as gentle breezes shape Assateague Island. This barrier island is a tale of constant movement and change. Bands of wild horses freely roam amongst plants and native animals that have adapted to the life of sand, salt, and wind.
Like people in the 21st century, these resourceful coastal residents looked for ways to avoid paying this tax. They turned to nearby Assateague Island with its abundance of food, shelter and a natural "corral" made of water to solve their problem.
Today is a much more mellow day of hanging out and visiting. But there was already a few nutty things that happened this morning - which I'll wait until tomorrow to share with you.
Tootles my poodles,
-T
