Mattituck Strawberry Festival

It's finally the weekend!!! And what an incredibly gorgeous Saturday it is!!

Me and my girlies had an amazing ride out to the island to the barn.  The sun was shining, the temps were just perfect and the air had a lovely cool breeze.   Just love days like this.

After saying my hellos to the folks and the horses at the barn, I headed over to Tanger Outlets in Riverhead.

I'm usually more organized, but this year, I saved shopping for teachers' end of year gifts till the last minute.

So, before settling in to write my Saturday blog, I hit a few of the outlet stores to get my purchases.  

First, I went into Vera Bradley, where I purchased the most adorable lunch bag for Gianna's teacher! I was lucky enough to find a matching umbrella as well!

I also picked up a new lunch box for Kelsey for next school year, since her current one has seen better days.

I'm not sure if you noticed but my photos re coming out awfully light - ugh!  I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm going to bring it back to Best Buy this week as it's still under warrantee.  So annoying! Apologies for the less and clear photos.

Next, I made my way over to the Nike Store to get a gift card for Kelsey's teacher, who loves to run!!

As for today...we were invited by one of Gianna's friends' parents to join them at the Strawberry Festival in Mattituck.

This year marks the 62nd Annual Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival, which began on June 16th and runs through June 19th (tomorrow).

According to their site, this is Long Island's Original 
and Largest Strawberry Festival and Charity Fund Raiser.

The event includes midway rides, foods from around the world, music and fireworks this evening!

The festival runs today (Saturday June 18th) from
11AM until 11PM and tomorrow (Sunday June 19th) from 11AM until 5PM
Admission for adults and children age 5 and over - $5.00. Children 5 and under are free.

Opening to 6pm: $30  
4pm to Closing: $30
All day bracelet available at $50.00

The BIGGEST Vegan Festival!

Greetings my dear ones!

I'm writing you from the road...that's right good 'ol technology allows me to sit here in the passenger seat while Dave is at the wheel and we drive up to Agoura Hills for a quick visit with his mother before heading over to the
​Vegan Beer & Food Festival.... I'm so excited!

This festival is gonna be freakin' AWESOME!
I only wish that my kiddos would be able to join us.
However this is a 21+ only event and I've gotta say that I am quite relieved that my kids are not that old yet! 

Vegans from all over the state of California as well as the rest of the country have eagerly anticipated this 7th Annual Event all year long.

While this will be my first time experiencing this festival, some of the attendees are going to both the festival that was held in Portland last weekend and this one here today! Hmmm maybe I can do that next year... Gotta check the busy calendar.

Anyhoo, I know quite a few peeps that will be a part of this event today and I know that we will all be trying lots of scrumptious sweet and savory goodies. So will we definitely be bringing our appetites!!!
And hopefully we can even catch up with a few other vegan foodies!

We will all be gathering together at the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena for the BIGGEST and BEST Vegan festival around!

With all of this being said and all of the fun I'm gonna be having, this is not to say that the kiddos don't have fun on their agenda for today as well...

Cosette will be getting all dolled up and going to a Bridal Shower in beautiful Laguna Beach  along with my mom, Jet, Brigitte, Mika & Chaplin.

Dominic will be chillaxing with the boys at home, while he, Dave C. and Andrew get to hold down the fort and have a girl free zone for most of the day.

And now as far as yesterday went...
We made our way out to the stables with Jet and Chaplin, and BOY WAS IT HOT! Thank heavens for the light breeze that was a savior from some of the heat and most of the darn annoying flies. 

After getting all cleaned up, it was time to head out again, go to choir rehearsal and then try out a new restaurant that I've been trying to get over to...

Well guess what, we showed up at the restaurant which was happening, but also had at least a few open tables and we are approached by a server/hostess who straight out tells us that "it's up to us if we want to leave, because right now they are looking at food taking at least 40 minutes!" 

Well well well...that wasn't going to work for us, and it does seem as though they need to work out a few kinks in their new business - so that not to turn away customers!
So off to the old stay-by we went...Native Foods!

And that is how it went down.
