A Happy Father's Day to All the Dads - Especially Mine! That's me and my dad a few weeks ago!! I took this picture for a recent article I did about year round gardening and of course, my dad was featured because he taught me everything I know on the subject! So glad Tanya suggested I incorporate a picture of the two of us, or I wouldn't have made it a priority to take this photo! With all I've ever done with my dad, the only regret I have is that he does not like to travel. If you take all my passion, excitement and love for seeing the world and measured it, that's how much my dad DOES NOT like to travel! He's very much a homebody and that's ok because we share plenty of other interests. I only wish I could experience the joys of seeing new places with him. Thank goodness, he likes to sit and watch a great video - we can always visit places "virtually" together! We have a pretty mellow day planned today - just a late afternoon dinner with my mom and dad, Danielle and her family. Danielle will be at a Met game, since that is how Carlo (her husband) wanted to spend his Father's Day, so they probably wont be joining us unless it's a short game. I'm sure Tedd will want to relax as much as he is able today since he begins a weeks long trial, which will be very tiring. I'm going to take advantage of it being a relaxing day and just catch up on a bunch of articles I've had in mind to write for your reading pleasure!! Oh, and we've made some changes to Tanya & Elisa's New Mexico Road Trip. We now have 2 pages - New Mexico Road Trip Details (an at-a-glance overview of all trip information) and New Mexico Road Trip Blog so you can follow the weekly planning with us! Happy Father's Day and until tomorrow, One father is more than a hundred Schoolmasters. - George Herbert -E | Happy Dad's Day!Happy Sunday to everyone else! I'm sending my greeting to you from Santa Barbara, CA. It's just Dave B, Dave C., Dominic, and I who came on this little getaway. We're having a lovely weekend so far. Had a very fun and full day yesterday. We started with Breakfast in LA, and then drove up to Santa Barbara, taking a nice bike ride along the coast and harbor, going for lunch, then shopping in Old Town, playing tennis and then making our dinner reservations all by 8:30pm! So when I say it was a very full day - I meant it in both senses - 1. that we were all pooped by the time we finally checked in after dinner and 2. boy were we stuffed with all the yummys that were in our tummys! Today we are visiting the Lompoc Flower Fields, then going to the Pasadena Chalk Festival, and filling our bellys some more all along the way! That's how we intend to enjoy our Sunday! Eventually driving back to Anaheim Hills in time for a late family dinner with the clan. Now, while although I have a father, I'll put it out there that he's not a very happy soul. I will give him a call today out of respect and to wish him a Happy Father's Day. And I will continue to wish him inner peace and well being. I'm also gonna give my mom a call and wish her a Happy Father's Day! (I'll see her later tonight. She'll be waiting for me to cook her dinner!) It was always my mom who served as both parental roles to me and Jet throughout our lives. The other being my late Grandfather who I looked up to as a father figure. So please don't forget to give kudos to all people in your life who stepped up into the role of "dad" for you! And share the love around! BTW - I think that picture of Elisa and my Uncle George is just stunning! I hope that they all have a great Father's day over there!
