Foodie Friday is Here!It feels as if Tanya and I are always talking about food! We are either posting pictures of food we have eaten, or are talking about Restaurants we are planning to visit or chatting about what we are cooking! And here it is, Foodie Friday again. Hope you enjoy hearing all about a fabulous meal I enjoyed with my family in Vienna this past April in my feature A Relaxing Meal at Pan e Wien, Vienna. You can bet that between Tanya and I, we will never run out of food stories! Yesterday was truly a relaxing day. I spent most of the afternoon at Barnes & Noble reading about Italy and added more sites and restaurants to the "Rome" segment of my Italy Trip Planning page. I bought myself a hot peppermint tea and a chocolate croissant at the Starbucks inside the B&N (enjoying my 10% discount from my B&N membership) and made my way upstairs to the International Travel section. I managed to find an empty chair right next to the window, and found two books that interested me - Eyewitness Travel: Family Guide ITALY and Open Road's Italy with Kids. I then made myself comfortable, pulled out my laptop and began reading and taking notes. I haven't had such a nice relaxing day in a while. (I also just happened to get another book - a cookbook (like I don't have enough!) - The Vegetarian Bible, which I'll enjoy reading this weekend!). Tonight we are going to the Big Apple Circus in Queens. I am interested in seeing it because of the acrobatics. While I will not attend any circuses that use exotic animals in their show, I was alittle weary about Big Apple Circus when I realized they use dogs and horses. There are all kinds of disclaimers about how well they treat all the performers - human and animals - and I have never heard thus far anything negative about their treatment of animals. So, I will report back to you my impression next Monday in our Entertainment Reviews section. Looking forward to some sunshine this weekend here in the Tri-State area! "Friday. The golden child of the weekdays. The superhero of the workweek. The welcome wagon to the weekend. The famous F word we thank God for every week." - Unknown -E | Food food and more FOOD! I'm thrilled that it's Foodie Friday and I get to drool over Elisa's review and her decadent photos from her meal in Vienna! I tell ya, it's either food or travel that I'm usually obsessing about! Yesterday it was a little of both! Where to eat, where to go?? Working on the UK planning page, and still staring at the menus for this weekends Santa Barbara getaway. I had also been browsing through some of my trip pictures to add to the slideshow and to our Instagram. For each picture that I saw, I just really wished that I were there...now. Then shortly after that I happened to get an email from a Travel Agent friend of mine who is doing a cruise tour in October to celebrate the Canals 100th anniversary. So of course my focus goes on to doing the Panama cruise. Which is something I had already considered prior to confirming my plans for this year. This offer had a great price and they don't leave until Oct 17th. Hmm...I will have just returned from our New Mexico Road Trip on Oct 13th, which is the day before Cosette's birthday. So taking the cruise wouldn't interfere on the front end. The cruise returns on Nov 4th. That works too! I'll have a week before we head to Iceland and then to NYC for Thanksgiving. So now it was eating away at me... I sort of mentioned this dilemma to Elisa and she had a wonderful idea for me to write a blog/article about "the withdrawal symptoms of not traveling"! I can/will definitely do this! Later in the afternoon I went shopping for a little while (I bought a cute pair of shoes and a super cute blouse that I just couldn't resist). I happened to take a look at the same email regrading Panama again. I was about to tell Dave and find out if he would come with me. I started to stress because I really NEEDED to go and I had to make it happen! But then it hit me and I realize that if I didn't get back until Nov 4th that I'd miss Halloween - and with my two adorable nieces and my two kids still enjoying festivities I just can't miss seeing them go trick or treat in their adorable costumes! So Panama will have to wait. But, I'm now thinking of presenting this cruise to Cosette and Dominic as a combo birthday trip for 2015! If they shoot it down, then it'll depend on the 2015 cruise dates (I might have to wait until 2016 to go). This morning Elisa and I will finally be speaking on the phone about all of our plans! Can you believe that we have done EVERYTHING via text and email up to now?! I've also got to go help prep for the Father Daughter Girl Scout Dance (although Cosette won't be attending), and we were planning to go get Cosette fitted for her Italian Ambassador Costume, but the tailor needs a little more time. We'll most likely hang out with the girl scouts for a bit longer since the girls all want to hit the pool, and then finally we'll be off to the stables for Cosette's Horseback riding lesson. I think we might skip tennis tonight, since we are going to play in Santa Barbara tomorrow. Oh yeah.. with all this food stuff going around guess I shouldn't forget to do my workout today (need more muscle to burn more calories - I love eating way too much to diet...and the word DIE is in the word diet - so it's not really for me). Yikes! I better go, I've gotta fit in packing too! "Fall in love with the process, and the results will come." - Unknown (I used this twice yesterday, so it's fitting for me to share it with all of you) Have a good one! -T |
