Elisa's Daily Scoop Covering Long Island & NYC Boroughs NEXT EVENT IN: 14 DAYS: MEAN GIRLS ON BROADWAY
A Look at What's New at Disney World in 2018 and Beyond
Mid-week already and only three days to go until Gianna's graduation. She did great on her math regents yesterday, as she thought they were easy, so that's a good sign. Let's see if she can beat her mom's "97" on the Algebra regents. That's right - while Mom is not a math whiz, I did do well in algebra.
Since Gianna went back to her friend's house to sleep over and leave together for their 8th grade field trip today, it was just me and Kelsey yesterday and last night.
We decided to head into town, as the weather was absolutely lovely, and we dined al fresco at one of our fave spots, Leo's, on Seventh Street in Garden City. Here's a little clip I took:
I'm really doing my best to shed a few inches as the summer is approaching and so I've been eating lots of salads and trying to watch the bread, pasta and starch. Of course, Kelsey ordered a nice thin crust Margherita pizza, which I wanted to take a bite of so badly, but I didn't!

Gianna doesn't get home from her school trip until later this evening, so Kelsey and I may just have to indulge in another meal somewhere else later this afternoon!
Most of our meal was spent going over the Disney World Trip Itinerary, which my little girl put together all by herself...for which she spent hours researching online and even set it up on an Excel spread sheet!!
Not only did it include rides and attractions, but also, meal planning for each days with specific restaurants, as well as times for various rides for which we will be securing Fast Passes. It is unreal how intricately she planned out this trip!!
Promise to get it published for you within the next few days!!
Toy Story Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios (credit: disneyparks)
In the meantime, here are few new things coming to Disney World in Orlando for 2018-19 according to the Disney.com website:
Toy Story Land This is super exciting!!! Opening June 30, 2018 in Disney's Hollywood Studios, is the all new Toy Story Land. This new area will feature 2 major attractions: Slinky Dog Dash—a family-friendly coaster—and Alien Swirling Saucers, which lets you spin around with little green aliens. Kelsey has us scheduled in for both of these new rides!
All new eatery at Woody’s Lunch Box.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Opening in 2019 in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Never before has a ride-through attraction been themed to Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, until now!!
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway will feature a new original story and lovable theme song, and will take Guests on a multi-dimensional journey inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel's Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts.
Very cool and very nostalgic. I think this is a great marketing strategy for merchandising these vintage versions of the characters!!
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios (credit: disneyparks)
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Set to open in 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park, this highly anticipated new land will feature a full-sized fleet of X-wing star fighters, a life-size Millennium Falcon starship and 2 jaw-dropping attractions. One attraction puts you in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance—and the other attraction gives you a chance to operate the Millennium Falcon.
Now, if we look beyond 2019, a few VERY exciting things are coming for the 50th Anniversary of Disney World in 2021:
In Epcot “Guardians of the Galaxy” Inspired by the movie, this attraction will be added to Future World, which dovetails with the original vision of Epcot’s Future World as the place to experience the excitement and adventure offered by space travel.
In case you didn't know, “Guardians of the Galaxy” attraction – Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! – debuted at Disney California Adventure park earlier this year to rave reviews from guests.
“Ratatouille” This inspired attraction will be added to the France Pavilion in World Showcase, which will expand the pavilion.
It will be similar to the 4-D attraction Ratatouille: The Adventure that opened at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2014. According to Disney.com, "The attraction will allows guests to shrink to Remy’s size and scurry to safety in a dazzling chase across a kitchen with the sights, sounds and smells of Gusteau’s legendary Parisian restaurant."
Minnie Van Service - coming to Walt Disney World in Orlando (credit: disney.com)
New Disney Transportation Minnie Van service will provide a point-to-point transportation service.
Disney Skyliner An entirely new transportation system will give guests a birds-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort. Disney Skyliner will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. And many of the gondolas with Disney Skyliner will feature favorite Disney characters.
Pretty exciting stuff!!!
Hope it's a magical day for you!!
Tanya's Daily Scoop Covering the West Coast & the World NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 29 DAYS: WASHINGTON DC / VIRGINIA
Just a quick bop in (for now). As I have an early day and won't be back home until early this afternoon.
Yesterday was fairly uneventful for me, I kept busy, it was hot (actually although I was stayed hydrated. The heat gave me a slight headache that lasted all day long, until it cooled off.)
I did manage to complete our check in process for our Southern Caribbean Cruise which departs in: 58 Days.
I still have to continue my research for this trip and figure out our day to day activities.
