New Orleans Trip Preview
Howdy, Howdy!!
OMG - is it gorgeous out today!! To me, it’s the PERFECT weather - sunny, breezy - mid 60’s. LOVE IT!
This is really the last “official” week of school for the kiddies. Next week consists of two half days and one 2-hour day.
Kelsey has her last final today in Spanish and Gianna is all done with tests Today also happens to be Kelsey’s end of year Class Picnic. Studying the world capitals for her Spanish final this morning, resulted in both of us forgetting the event and as a result, Kelsey didn’t wear her sneakers. Guess who got a call shortly after drop-off to bring her sneakers? Yup. Gianna has her Class Barbeque on Wednesday, which I know she is excited about. So much fun at the end of the year!
Yesterday was another incredible weather day. We headed off for our first day at the community pool (it officially opened over the weekend). I will say, it was a bit windy, but what a delightful breeze it was!
Several weeks ago we made plans to spend the day with the girls from the barn. My daughters have found such good friends in the other girls they ride with and I couldn’t be more happier!! They all share a deep passion for horses, riding and all things equestrian and it truly has built a bond between them. I am equally fortunate to have developed relationships with the moms of these girls - each one warm, friendly and committed to their daughter’s riding as much as me! Our mother-daughter group of 10 connected around noon. One of the moms brought a dear friend, and boy did we hit it off!! We chatted away and realized we knew some of the same people!! What are the chances. Anyhoo...
Tthe girls romped around the pool complex, jumped around in the pool, had lunch and whiled away the hours going down the slides over and over!
Us moms hung out in the shade (it was the wisest decision since because of the wind, the umbrellas were forbidden to be opened). Let me tell you, the breeze was just delicious!! It felt amazing to just “sit” and relax and chat and laugh for an afternoon. Saying goodbye was no easy feat - it was quite an ordeal getting them all to stop the antics so everyone could get on their way. I assured them all that this was only the first of many get togethers at the pool for the coming Summer season!
As I mentioned, I will be taking my sweeties to New Orleans for a short couple of days getaway this summer.
I am really looking forward to it, the more I plan the activities! I did, promise them that it would not be a non-stop sight-seeing trip. (They hate that!!). However, since we will be there for 4 days, I told them I want one day to be learning about this amazing city. (Though, not thrilled, they acquiessed - afterall, who takes them to riding all year and now, all summer! lol)
So, here are some of the thoughts I have for our trip…
Day 1 Arrive in New Orleans mid-day Visit Audubon Aquarium of Americas Dinner Day 2 Walking Tour of French Quarter Highlights include: French & Spanish Colonial architecture Walking through Jackson Square, a National HIstorical Landmark French Market - shops and farmer’s market View of Mississippi River Cabildo Museum and Napoleons death Mask Day 3 Dessert Tour I plan on taking the kids to several famous bakeries and candy eateries for a tasty day! Day 4 Open Day to walk around, shop and take in the city! Day 5 Bid farewell! Tomorrow, I’ll be jumping right into Croatia and what me and Tanya are thinking about for our next Travelin’ Cousins Adventure trip!! Wishing you a fabulous Monday!! -E xoxo |
Are you getting our emails?
Well hello Monday!
Here we are again! And can you believe that the summer is almost here?! Holy crap - where does time go? I mean, I know that I bounce around and do my share (maybe more than my shred of travel), but can you really believe that Christmas is ONLY 6 MONTHS AWAY?!?!?!
It's okay - because I do already have some Christmas gifts in mind ;)
So today was the first morning since getting back that I actually slept until the regular/average/usual time that I start the day. I was so sleepy yesterday morning, that I really should've taken a nap or something... But instead I fought it and stayed awake. We went to the kids performance at St. Maria Goretti's Annual Carnival and the sun was beating down on us, so much so that while some of the "other" kids were busy dancing, that I allowed myself to close my eyes and ever so slightly doze off.
After the performance we went for lunch at Seabirds Kitchen, read REVIEW HERE
Then deciding to finally go catch a movie -
Now You See Me 2
Dominic figured that since he missed the first one that he would skip the second one.
My mom on the other hand figured that she would enjoy coming along...however not so much "coming" along, as much as meeting us at the theatre. Well this seemingly easy meet-up went actually quite comical... My mom (who has a difficult time getting anywhere on time) arrived at the theatre once the movie had already started. Once she walked into the theater, most of the scenes were actually quite dark. So although I waved to her, flashed my phone at her, and even sent her a quick little text (telling her what row we were in) she didn't see me. She did see the text and she started on her way, making it to the correct row, and then out of nowhere taking an empty seat in between 2 couples! WTH?! While watching her, we figured that she would get up again and continue to the middle of the row (next to us), but instead...she spent the rest of the entire movie sitting in between strangers! What a little weirdo that mom of mine is. The movie was pretty good, we all enjoyed it and Cosette and my mom actually loved it! As far as today goes, I've gotta get some shopping taken care of, the kids had choir rehearsal, Dave and I have a board (bored) meeting, and hopefully that about sums it. Nothing too exciting - just a day in the life. Tomorrow is Travelin' Tuesday and both Elisa and I have plenty of new/updates to let you in on - so be sure not to miss it. And the best way not to miss a beat here at Travelin' Cousins is by subscribing to our Daily Scoop, and having our shenanigans delivered directly to your inbox!
