Restful SundayHowdy! What a day yesterday was! I cannot even tell you how much I got accomplished. Me and the girls had a very productive shopping day and had great success in finding everything we had set out to buy. We hit the New Balance store first and Gianna got a great looking pair of sneakers. Hard to believe she is an adult size 6 already! Then we headed over to Bagel Boss for a super huge breakfast - egg sandwich and fruit for me and Gianna and Kelsey had a bagel and a chocolate chip muffin. Then off to the Roosevelt Field Mall, down the road. Kelsey found some really cute sun dresses, tops and bottoms for Italy. Gianna was capturing our shopping day on video, for the launch of the Travelin' Cousins new YouTube channel. We will keep you posted as to when this will hit! Not long after getting home, did we all get the bug to start packing for Italy. Since we will be out in Remsenburg the entire week, we all figured we'd have our suitcases 98% complete before leaving. I managed to color coordinate some great outfits for me and the two girls - a little trick I learned from Tanya! Then I spent about an hour updating my 8 page Italy travel itinerary with train times, touring information and some sightseeing information I had found a while ago for our drive from Rome to San Gimignano. I decided that I would drive straight through f or about two hours to Siena and spend most of the day in this little town. Then head over to our vacation villa in San Gimignano late in the afternoon so we arrive in time for our schedule dinner on the property. I'll be adding all this information to my Italy Trip Planning page over the weekend. We needed a great treat after all the disciplined hard work all day, so we went into town last night for some frozen yogurt. Yummy way to end the day! Needless to say, we didn't make it to Remsenburg yesterday, so we are headed out there this morning. I am planning to have a relaxing day and try to get some color on my very pale, mozzarella-color legs, while working on a few feature articles for the upcoming weeks! Feels so good to have accomplished so much yesterday so I can just focus on fine tuning sightseeing and restaurant to visit while in Italy. Hope your Sunday is Spectacular!! -E | Ready for a Super Sunday!Greetings from the city of brotherly love! (Philadelphia) We arrived here early in the afternoon yesterday, after picking up Dave B. from EWR (Newark International Airport - NJ), and then deciding to head straight to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for some (tons) of vegan goodies from none other than the BEST vegan bakery anywhere - so you can understand why I would drive an hour and a half out of our way and walk out of there with Ice Cream cone in hand and 4 boxes of AMAZING desserts!!! You'll definitely be hearing more about this little food adventure in an upcoming Foodie Friday article. Continuing back on track to go ol' Philly, we still hadn't had breakfast yet, so we stopped for some brunch and finished just in what I thought was the nick of time to get our booties on over to Independence Hall for our 3pm tour. As Dave was driving and I was navigating, I was also looking up the check in procedure and realized that we were suppose to check in 45 minutes ahead of our tour! What a BUST! No sweat, I'm flexible and easily slide this tour onto Monday morning. Only difference is that I'll need to go stand in line for day of tickets before 10am (not a big deal - we'll do it on our way to breakfast). So, just as I was typing the work breakfast I started wondering if you readers have started to get the picture about Elisa & I and our obsession with FOOD? I told you a while ago, my brain runs on Travel and Food! I suppose if we didn't go with the name Travelin' Cousins, that we could've been the Foodie Cousins! lol Without the time pressure of our tour, we checked into our hotel, and then made our way over to the Liberty Bell, the Independence Hall Visitor Center, The President's House Site, and Ben Franklin's Grave. Then it was back to our hotel for some pool time fun before changing for an AMAZING dinner! We ate at Vedge last night. I never imagined that this place that I've been wanting to try out for a couple of years was gonna impress like it did and all I will say right now is OMG! This is another definite upcoming feature for Foodie Friday!! And here we are today, our plans consist of breakfast at Farmicia (recommended by Elisa from her Philly Itinerary), going to Citizens Bank Park (for the first time) to catch the Phillies play the Diamondbacks, a late lunch, then a stroll to Penn's Landing, and finally capping off the night with a late dinner at Charlie was a Sinner - one of Philly's new hotspots! (Which happens to be vegan!) Gotta go and have some fun now! Catch ya later :) Have a Happy Sunday! -T |
