Another glorious day with my cousins and another day of fun touring around New York City - this time, it was Brooklyn!

We had a big day planned - a visit to the newly opened Domino Park in Williamsburg; Pizza at Vinnie's Pizza (which has a pretty extensive Vegan menu!) and, of course, our regular Brooklyn stop, Dun Well Doughnuts for vegan donuts!!!

Currently the only eatery in the park - Tacocino has light Mexican fare and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (c) travelincousins.com

Tanya and I had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Taylor, of Tacocino to chat about how things have been in the park since its official opening on June 10th, this summer.

Taylor reported that everything was going GREAT!! 
Tacocina is part of the Union Square Hospitality group and this is the first Tacocino every to be opened! Another first for this new and gorgeous water front area!

I am happy to report that the restaurant does offer a number of vegan options!  Additionally, the plan is for this eatery to be opened year-round.

Although we ate our chips and salsa, this group is ALWAYS hungry, so after departing the park and a most enjoyable visit, we made our way to Vinnie's Pizzeria on Bedford Avenue (between 8th & 9th Street)

Quite small and unassuming, Vinnie's was our destination because of its extensive vegan menu.
Even Gianna decided to forego the dairy and had a slice of vegan Queen's Margherita. Her report was that it was delicious!!

You may be wondering why I'm using a photo from Vinnie's website - I didn't realize until I got home that my camera card was full!!

Yup, that's right - my photos in the restaurant and our subsequent visit to DunWell Doughnuts never recorded!!!! I won't even get into how angry I am.

I did manage to snag one photo of my delicious (non-vegan) slice of Spinach, Tomato and Feta. May I say, the crust was spectacular!

Our last Brooklyn stop was at our favorite Doughnut destination - DunWell Doughnuts.  Not only did we eat our yummy vegan donuts and vegan ice cream, but we bought a bunch to take home!!

I had a wonderful photo of my donuts - all lined up in the box - and so proud that I snapped a photo prior to leaving the store, but alas, IT DIDN'T RECORD!!!

We said our goodbyes back at Tanya's grandma's house until our next get together.

COUSINS TRIP DISCUSSIONS:
Did you think that Tanya and I would get together in person and not get planning for future trips??

Heck no!  We discussed Cosette's upcoming 18th Birthday (in October 2019) and the plan to celebrate in Las Vegas - more to come!!

AND - we had a full cousins family meeting about our Summer 2019 Sicily Trip.  Everyone seemed to be in agreement regarding the "skeletal" plan that Tanya and I agreed on and so now - all systems go!!! More to come on our TASTE OF SICILY trip!!

Spending the day with Elisa in Brooklyn

Hiya guys!

We are still here is NY, but not for long...

Me and my gang had originally planned to stay at least until Saturday, but in doing so we would is seeing my cousin Elizabeth - who I haven't seen in a number of years. So it was a no brainer to leave NY a day or so early.

Yup we are continuing our extended visiting road trip and getting on the road once again this morning en-route to Chesapeake, Virginia.

Of course we'll be back in NY before ya know it...I've just got to figure out where to put it / fit it in my ever busy and hectic schedule.

YOU DO REALIZE THAT I'LL ONLY BE BACK HOME IN SOCAL FOR 1 WEEK BEFORE HEADING OUT ON MY NEXT ADVENTURE!!

​As far as yesterday went, we had yet another fabulous day with cousins. Elisa came by my grandma's, caught up with her and my dad for a bit and then we all piled into her 7 seater Santa Fe and were off for a short little drive across the Kosciuszko Bridge and into Brooklyn.

We were headed to Williamsburg and to check out the new and if I may say so myself "very cool" Domino Park - which opened just last month.

From what was once a successful sugar refinery, then turned industrial mess is now a 5-acre bright and cheery urban space located right at the base of the Williamsburg Bridge and directly on the waterfront of the East River.

Beautifully landscaped and with several water features, a playground, lounge chairs, a boardwalk, a elevated artifact walkway, beach volleyball, bocce call court, a dog-run area, playing fields and more.

This most inviting space is one that we anticipate will soon become the new local hot spot!

Dun Well was our last stop with Elisa and gang. It was time to head back to Grandma's and say our good byes to our partners in crime. lol

Once back at Grandma's, our cousin Greg was over to visit with us. We caught up, story told, laughed, had dinner and watched a movie before it was time for Greg to head back home into the city and for us to go up to bed.
