No Horseback Riding...

This has been an interesting week, to say the least.

It is the girls' third week of horseback riding camp for the Summer.  The first two weeks went by without a hitch.

In fact, for week 1, we stayed out in Riverhead, making our commute next to nothing and giving us a little mini vacay in our own backyard.

So, here's why this week was a little "off":
The camp week usually consists of four days, but this week, their trainer had some personal business to attend to on Thursday (tomorrow), so it was only going to be a 3-day week.

This was no biggie for me, since I had some errands I would be able to catch up with on Thursday and figured the girls could spend some time at the community pool and move along on their summer homework assignments.

Time to pack up my car! (c)travelincousins.com
Monday was a great day - the kids carpooled with their two friends (thanks to their wonderful Grandma who is playing chauffeur this summer!) and then they had a sleepover.

And it literally was a sleepover, since each of the four kids were out like lights by 8:30!!

Cut to yesterday - my turn to carpool.  Pick up the kids - all is going well. (Even had time to get my trusty hot chocolate from Starbucks) and we made it to camp in perfect time.

After dropping the girls off, I made my way over to the Tanger Outlets to hang out, do some online work and catch up on a few phone calls.

I won't lie, I was extraordinarily tired, which didn't make sense because I had gotten a killer night's sleep the night before.  I also had a bit of a headache, but shrugged it off as a sinus thing due to the weather.

Next step, get all four girls lunch and bring it back to the barn.  I confirmed via text, I'd be heading back and then I get a phone call from Gianna.  One of the friends who is part of our carpool fell and "hurt" her wrist.

"Grandma" (who was supposed to have the day off from driving), was on her way since the arm was pretty swollen.  Oh no, not a good sign.

Upon my return to the barn, all four girls practically jumped me for their lunch (they certainly build up quite an appetite riding all morning!

There I see poor little Maya with her arm wrapped in ice, ever the trooper, and her Grandma getting her ready to take over for an X-ray.

My daughters and Maya's sister are going to stay for the afternoon and I assure Grandma I will take care of getting her other granddaughter home.
Picture
The girls finish out the day and the four of us get on the road.  On the way, they speak with Maya who is at the hospital, waiting for her X-ray results...the doctor comes in and reports...her arm, is in fact broken.

The worst part is that she will be in a cast for 6 to 8 weeks and will not be able to ride for a total of 12 weeks.  There is no worse news than this for an equestrian!!

We picked up a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake to try and cheer her up.  I'm not sure the full extent of this had really sunk in because all the girls were very busy signing the cast and gossiping about things.  Gotta love pre-teen girls!!

Anyway, needless to say, today was only going to be Gianna and Kelsey riding and we were all set to have a leisurely ride, the three of us, out to the barn.  I was planning on doing some filming and enjoying a lovely day outside per last night's forecast.

Ok - well, around 10:30, I start to feel pretty crummy.  My throat is hurting, my headache is getting worse and I'm beginning to feel rather stuffy.  I warn the girls that I don't know if this is just a little evening "thing" or if I'm slowly coming down with a cold.

So, Guess what?  Yup, I wake up feeling worse.  I tell the girls I really need to rest and we'll make up the day.  They were disappointed, but I think being that it was a short week anyway, and the fact that their two friends were not going, combined with the drama of yesterday, they were very good about it.

And that folks is my story!!  I'm sitting here, having just taken 2 tylenol, very run down and I think I'm going to lay down and relax.

However, before I do....It's W2GW...

Summer Dayz

Ya know how some days you just feel like a taxi driver?
Well yesterday was one of those days for me. And it's kinda weird, because I really didn't feel like I was doing much more than average. I think it was just a combo of the stop and go, stop and go & the heat - that'll zap me for sure!

I managed to get a good workout in, but then while I was there I got a text message, that put a new spin on the day, and had me rushing around.

Then later in the day, I took the kids over to the pool. They had a blast, and I tried to keep cool and out of the sun.

Once we were done at the pool, it was time to get Dominic ready for his classes, which Cosette and Jayson decided to come along and hang out for.

While there I managed to do one more booking for our Winter Euro Ski Circuit, and then hours later we all hopped back in the car and headed to Rita's for some refreshing Italian Ices.

This was a treat before dinner, because I still had to cook and deliver dinner up to Dave's.
As of late, we have been giving the usually exhausted Dave a couple of nights off per week, and this was one of them.

He stays home and does whatever his heart desires. He even misses dinner with us and then I do a little delivery service and drop off his dinner.

While all three of these events are sure to be good time; I personally might head on over to the Sand Castle Competition for a gander.

As far as today goes, I'll be taking the 3 kids to the stables and pray that the flies leave me alone!
We've got a few other errands to run, Dominic is having something "INTERESTING" done to his hair, he's also got class later, and I've got to squeeze in going to the gym.

So it's time for me to get cracking!

Until tomorrow,
-T
