11 Las Vegas Must Dos for the First Timer!
It's actually quite amazing when I sit back and think about all the places in the world that I write the Daily from!!! Dare I say it's - remarkable!
So anyhoo, the SCOOP from yesterday...
On our way to good 'ol Sin City, we had made a pitstop in Baker, CA - 77 miles outside of Las Vegas, and home to the WORLD'S LARGEST thermometer.
It's actually quite amazing when I sit back and think about all the places in the world that I write the Daily from!!! Dare I say it's - remarkable!
So anyhoo, the SCOOP from yesterday...
On our way to good 'ol Sin City, we had made a pitstop in Baker, CA - 77 miles outside of Las Vegas, and home to the WORLD'S LARGEST thermometer.
It is an electric sign that commemorates the record 134 degrees Fahrenheit recorded in nearby Death Valley on July 10, 1913.
The sign weighs 76,812 pounds and is stands 134 feet tall.

And although I have been making my way to Vegas and passing this sign for the past...well let's just say several years.
Having even stopped in Baker a number of times - I have never stopped at the famous sign until yesterday - so unlike me!
Once we had taken our fill of fun photos, we continued on our way to Vegas and to breakfast - boy was my stomach rumbling...
Ahead of time (because I plan EVERYTHING) I chose to try a fairly new (but completely new to me) vegan cafe named 'Violette's', which was bright and colorful, and had a fairly decent sized menu for us to choose from. Both Dave and I going with some elixir shots, freshly pressed "green" juice and a Build-your-Own combo and then plowing through the platters that were served!

Our next step was stopping at the camera shop - can you tell there were a few TO DO items that Dave didn't get done before we left...he ran outta time! lol
Finding what he needed and the new point and shoot camera that I would've bought yesterday - but they only had the floor model...
We were then off to make a local favorite stop at Ronald's Donuts!!!

The next thing on our list was going to Venetian and the Grand Canal of Shoppes to find Dave an Ascot...
I always wanted to be with a man who wears Ascots. Not sure why it took him soooo many years to be THAT guy!

And then our last stop before checking in was going to Whole Foods. Geez does it take FORever to get a few errands done in this town!
Finally arriving at the Cosmopolitan, checking in and finding a brilant room with an AMAZING view!

And with our Eagles view, I just couldn't wait for nightfall and to see all of the sparkling lights that the Strip has to offer!

Dinner was at the ever lovely Wynn and what was once Bartolotta and now renamed Costa di Mare - although aside from some menu changes, it's the same restaurant.
Same staff, same decor, and equally great food!

People watching in Vegas is PRIME. I could really just sit and watch all the different and interesting "types" pass me by. It really quite entertains me...but always leaves me wondering if the majority of these people ever look in the mirror or have any honest friends...
Because umm WHAT ON EARTH are some of them WEARING?!
Anyway since food rules and I'm ready for breakfast, I'm gonna bid you adieu and catch ya back here tomorrow for the start of a brand spanking new week!
