Tanya's Daily Scoop
NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 25 DAYS
A sampling of the Caribbean
I'm here in SoCal melting away (and it's only gonna get worse before it gets better). It's so weird - I just returned from traveling to all of these hot and humid destinations and here I am dealing with this "dry heat" and although it may not be all sticky and gross - it's still very HOT!
What makes it worse is that our central A/C is out-of-order and we have been waiting on the repair guy - who has now rescheduled until Saturday. So for now it's either melt away or sit in front of the fan and melt slower.
We were actually very lucky with weather while traveling. I was expecting the heat index to be much worse and the sweat factor to be extreme. But all in all, there were only 2 days that really stuck out for me as ridiculously uncomfortable. And there was at least one other day that was definitely hot, but just not as unbearable.
Those memorable HOT days were - Father's Day (in Virginia) and just this past Tuesday in Miami!
I cannot report that I've unpacked quite yet. But at least I've got most of my carry-on unloaded.
Tonight and this weekend we go back to the grind, I've got a travel meeting with the IPC travel committee and the kids have choir rehearsal and need to work on songs for the CD that they'll be recording in August next month.
Tomorrow we have to head out to the Pomona Fairgrounds to drop off the pictures that Cosette has entered into competition. Then off to a pool party we go! Pretty sure we'll catch Spiderman in there too..
And of course Sunday will be filled with all sorts of more fun!
Before I go, let me fill you in on the craziness that I encountered yesterday... So a couple of months back I had looked up a fare for Dave to meet us in Idaho and for us all to go and see the 2017 Total Eclipse. Well the route was just so random that I figured there would be no problem whatsoever on making the purchase at a later date. Poor decision Tanya - when I took a peek yesterday I could not find anything even close to being comparable in fare or in schedule. It was BAD!
Flights SOLD OUT all over the board, and those that still had 1 or 2 seats left were selling them at super outrageous prices. I was really disappointed and trying to figure out an alternate plan which eventually lead me to looking at a return flight from Reno which also changes our return route - but the good thing is that it get's us back a day early.
Why do I care about getting home a day early?
Because another thing I finally took care of yesterday was signing us up for the 10th Annual Bike the Bay in San Diego - which takes place a few days after getting home. So obviously you can see that it'll be another busy few weeks!!
I'll be back to join ya here tomorrow - until then be sure to have a good one!
