Happy National French Fry Day!!Hi-ya!! I hope your weekend is all you had hoped!! I realized after I posted my daily yesterday that I forgot to wish Jet a happy birthday. So, here's to a belated happy birthday post to Tanya's little sister! I get amazed about how there is a special day on the calendar for almost every food! Today we celebrate National French Fry Day. The history of this day dates back to 1802, when President Thomas Jefferson introduced America to these now well-loved potatoes. His explicit order was "potatoes served in the French manner." And there you have it - the history of the French Fry in America!! My kids will be happy to hear that there is a special day for these fried tater! Today we are starting off the day with a fun brunch at Cafe Mambo in Westhampton Beach. This little eatery supposedly has great crepes and I am going to find that out for myself today and will report back! My friend Denise and her two adorable daughters are coming out East today and will join us for brunch and then back to the house for swimming and hanging out. We will be heading back to Garden City tonight for the next few weeks, as Gianna will be attending a camp in Nassau. And a big Congrats to Dominic & Cosette for their performance yesterday - wish we were there to share it! Make today a happy day! -E | Packing fun into every last minute! We are all checked in; and with less then 24hrs to go before we are cruising at 30k feet, and headed for one of the greatest cities in the world, I decided that today would be the perfect day to head back up to the City of Angels to finally go see "Murder & Madness at Greystone Mansion". I say finally because, Dave and I had reservations and had attempted to go back in the late summer of 2013. On that night we happened to hit more traffic than expected and had been locked out of the parking lot with no allowance onto the property. Very disappointed we were turned away. Until this summer with a minimal schedule and the show being quite popular, I found it to almost always be sold out. So, I was quite happy when we were able to reserve 4 spots to today's matinee. After the show we plan on grabbing lunch at Doomies in Hollywood, and without even realizing that today was National French Fry Day, I had already planned on getting us some (vegan) Chili-Cheese Fries! Which now obviously fits the occasion! Thank you President Thomas Jefferson! Yesterday went pretty well. I guess as well as you can expect for my family's attempt for us to all head out for the day together! We had a lovely picnic lunch at Balboa Beach, and then went over to the kids performance for the Hemispherectomy Conference. Which was so wonderful and so touching, that I along with a number of others were brought to tears. I am so proud of these kids, for all the joy that they brought. They have no idea! We then all (most of us) met up and had a yummy dinner at Freesoul Caffe, and then finally came home for birthday cake! I then went on to do a few things for the trip and finally start relaxing.
