Elisa's 2019 Travel Update
Hey there!!! How is your week going? Hump Day already.
This week has been great! Getting so much accomplished around the house and making some great plans for upcoming fun day trips. I'm going to get right into it as there's not much to report on the home front, except for one thing... Yesterday, I went to the New York Ravioli Company in New Hyde Park (a hop, skip and a jump from my home) and I was totally stoked to see that they have vegan spinach and cheese ravioli!!! I have been going there for years and never saw them there before! I picked up a few boxes and guess what Gianna ate for dinner last night?? Yup - she was beyond thrilled to have freshly made non-dairy ravs. Trust me, we'll be a regular customer with these going forward. Thanks NY Ravioli!! In Travel News.... Elisa's 2019 Travel Update: Kelsey's 13th Birthday Trip to Disney World - February 2019: This week, I booked the Magical Express and now I'm just awaiting my luggage tags! Within the next two weeks, I'll be booking our dining plan (although, all of our meal reservations are made!) as well as purchasing our park tickets.
I will tell you, it is not at all inexpensive to go to Walt Disney World. Here is what I'm paying for the trip:
Airfare: the cost of flights was and still is out of control from New York to Orlando during President's week. So, I opted (reluctantly) to use frequent flyer points. And trust me, the flights are not the best - I actually have a connecting flight on the return through Atlanta. Accommodations: I used points from our Disney Vacation Club, but if you add it all up, it costs roughly $820 for the year - not bad. Dining Plan: This is where the cost begins to add up - $1200 for the three of us. Park Tickets: The cost of the park tickets just seems to go higher and higher each time we go to Disney World. This trip, it will cost us $1300. Whew! Cousins Taste of Sicily Trip - June/July 2019
I've been doing a bit of reading and researching for this upcoming trip this summer.
Tanya and I chatted briefly yesterday and though we want to see as much as possible on this cousins' family trip to the "homeland" we also want to be realistic with our time and make it an enjoyable mix of sightseeing and relaxing on the lovely Sicilian beaches for all, so we opted to stay on the east coast for this trip. Trust me, we will be returning! I'm working on the preliminary itinerary this week, but so far, our trip will include Catania, Taormina, Messina, Syracusa and Agrigento. I'm hoping to arrange for a cooking class in Taormina as well as some beach time!! More to come on this trip!! Cosette's 18th Birthday Celebration in Las Vegas - October 2019
October is a wonderful month - it's the birthday month for Cosette and me!! So, this will be Gianna and Kelsey first trip to Las Vegas, and I'm super excited that it will be to celebrate Cosette's 18th!!
Since Tanya is a Sin City regular, I will be leaving all the plans in her hands for this trip. This includes accommodations, meal destinations and of course, the fun activities. This trip will be easy peasy to plan for me! I'm over and out for now - more tomorrow!! Happy Hump Day! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo |
I better not miss my flight
Hiya everyone (waves all around). Little by little I'm making my way through the week.
It's another short week over here for me since we leave on Friday. The plan was to get dropped at LAX off by my brother and since I haven't seen him in a few days, I decided to reach out and confirm our plans. Guess what??? He totally forgot all about driving us and is now house sitting and doggie watching for Skip - who just left for Vietnam on Monday. Oh my goodness! Good thing I reached out, otherwise without double checking, we might as well have needed to call a cab (can you say ch-ching) or miss our flight!!!! I have only ever missed one flight - EVER in my life...and it had nothing to do with me. In fact (not to name names) I was quite furious and almost ready to leave Dave behind in order to make the plane. LOLOL But sensibility had slapped me in the face and leaving someone behind that you care about is NOT what you do in a situation like that. LOLOL So did we have to pay fees to the airline, stay the night and catch a flight the next morning? Yes we did. Did I damage our relationship? No I didn't. LOLOL Bottom line is that people are more important than flights. In fact I have a short funny story to share about a friend I know...In fact this is the friend who offered to take us to the airport at no-o'clock in the morning on Friday instead of me booking a shuttle. We are of course paying him. He didn't offer to do it for free, but at a discounted rate from what the shuttles were quoting. Anyhow... This guy who HATES being late. -Side note: I also hate being late, but this guy gives new meaning to hating being late! So he was seeing (dating) a woman many years ago and he was taking her to the airport to catch a flight. He wanted to drop her off uber early and she wasn't ready to leave so they left late. He was so stressed out for a flight that wasn't even his. They arrived at the airport late. She missed her flight. And he broke up with her right there on the spot! No other issues in their relationship, he just couldn't handle the stress or the idea of being late!!! Can we say EXTREME!
Well I should hope that there is no chance at us missing our flight. With this friend driving us, we will be arriving with PLENTY of time to spare. I suppose he doesn't want to break off our friendship! LOLOL
I have been hearing how awful it is to get through TSA right now during the government shutdown and I am hoping not to report the same. But since we will be at the airport several hours before our flight, I don't think we have anything to worry or fret about. Little by little, my packing is wrapping up. Of course there are always those last minute things to toss into our bags. But all in all if I had to leave to day I'm pretty much ready to go... Aside from my mani/pedi that I plan on getting tomorrow. Today is just too busy with all of the running around and chores that I have to accomplish. I did manage to get the purple in my hair freshened up yesterday and although I forgot to take a picture of it - I really LOVE IT! Okay, time is getting away from me and I need to get crackin'. I'll fill you in on more tomorrow! -Travelin' Tanya |
