Throwin' It Back to ChinaHey there! How are you doing today? I need to apologize on behalf of Tanya and myself as we got our signals crossed yesterday, thinking the other was going to post our Daily and guess what folks? It didn't get posted till after our blog emailing time. So, here is the JANUARY 7TH DAILY LINK so you can catch up. What you missed was some pretty interesting information about the Tenement Museum on the lower east side of Manhattan under my daily and some live blogging from Tanya on Day 2 of her Ski Utah & Tahoe Road trip. Today I'm covering our Throwback Thursday feature, with yet another installment of Elisa's Throwback China Trip Adventure from back in the day - 1991 to be exact. We are up to Part 10, our last and final day in Beijing and will visit Tian An Men Square and the Temple of Heaven before we depart and head to Xi'an - home of the famous Terra Cotta Warrior Soldiers. If you haven't been following this Throwback series, allow me to tell you what it's all about. In 1991, at the age of 26, while working as Director of Product Development for a small New Jersey toy company, I decided to take a trip throughout mainland China at the end of one of my many business trips to Hong Kong. My childhood friend, Cheryl met me in Hong Kong to spend the third and final week of my trip. While I worked, she bopped around and when I was able to steal away, we had a blast visiting the local tourist sites in Hong Kong. At the end of that week, Cheryl and I headed off for a week long tour of China, which included, Shanghai, Beijing and Xi'an, which, more than twenty years later, was one of the richest experiences of my life. During our trip. we kept a very detailed trip journal and it is from this account that I have created my China Trip Adventure series. I invite you to read the entire account of this trip. In 1998, on my way to Bali, Indonesia for my honeymoon, I went back to Hong Kong - the first time in six years and it had changed so much. I did a short day trip into China, which was an experience for my husband, but nothing like my touring throughout this amazing country back in 1991. I am determined to return again - this time with my kids. I'm sure I won't recognize anything from how I remember it from back in the 1990's! Well, dear peeps, that's a wrap for today. Catch ya tomorrow! -E | Just like Heaven! Hiya everyone! We are still enjoying ourselves here at Lake Tahoe, and having a great time! Having only spent a half day on the slopes yesterday, but it was a super time! And since this is after the holidays and midweek, we are finding no lines and really good snow! The snow is better than I expected coming in, because they are having a warm spell this week! So the temps aren't very low and yet the snow is great...so we aren't freezing our butts off while we're out there having fun! Today is a full day of skiing - my type of day! Up and down the slopes from first lift of the day until last lift of the day! Aside from only taking a lunch break, we will be skiing skiing and skiing it up! The kids are having a blast out here and I haven't got even one complaint (even from the complainer! Lol) I'm such a ski bum that I'm already thinking about the rest of my ski trips for this season (Utah, Quebec, Vail, back to Tahoe) and thinking that it's not enough! Which has me thinking about next season where I already know that I plan on going to: Lake Tahoe, Colorado, Utah, Jackson Hole, Banff, Whistler, and more!!! I don't want more. I need more!!! Anyhoo, we are back on schedule for TBT (Throwback Thursday), and Foodie Friday! So I hope that you enjoy Elisa's 10th installment of her Throwback China Trip Adventure! And have to warn you that because of a computer issue that I'm having right now that my Foodie Friday will most likely be late this week. Sorry, but you know what happens...and it kinda happened to me in this situation. Boo! Hope you guys and dolls are having as much fun as we are! Time to hit the slopes! Ciao 4 now, -T |
