First Snow in New York!Well, hello and Happy Travelin' Tuesday!! And how appropriate that today of all days, Tanya heads off on her first trip of 2015! She is headed for Lake Tahoe (California & Nevada), Salt Lake City, Utah, Brian Head, Utah, and through Las Vegas, Nevada, before heading back to Orange County. If you love the Travelin' Cousins Road Trip blogs, don't forget to follow Tanya daily for the latest on this exciting ski-road trip! I cannot begin to tell you just how happy and excited I am today!!! Loading up the car to take the kiddies to school, I was met by the lightest of snow flurries outside. The first real snow of this Winter season. After dropping the girls off at school, I headed over to Fairway (yes, that's right - I was one of the first to arrive as they opened thier doors at 8AM!) and by the time I left the store at 9AM, the flurries had turned into a heavier downpour of that fabulous white stuff!! I LOVE SNOW!!! I LOVE WINTER! and there's nothing better than the first snow of the season! I guess snow is the common theme today with it coming down here on Long Island and Tanya headed for the slopes out west. I know the kids are probably looking out the window at school, hoping and praying that there will be a big enough accumulation for a snow day tomorrow. I'm not sure they will get their wish, but boy, am I like a big kid today! Since it's Travelin' Tuesday, I thought I would chat it up a bit about one of my upcoming trips -- Vegas Baby!!! That's right, I'll be taking a girls' weekend vacay with my sister Danielle and our long-time friend Cheryl in early March. After much debating and discussion, we decided to book the Venetian. Though I've been to Vegas several times through the years, I've never stayed at the Venetian. We decided on a suite for our little trio. Funny small-world story. I was out to dinner several weeks ago with Denise and Marcelo and as fate would have it, we got to talking to the maitre d' of the restaurant. It turns out, one of his business partners manages the Venetian and so he gave us the partner's name and number so we could connect during our stay. We'll see what comes of it! In any case, our airfare and hotel is now booked and all we have left to do is think about our entertainment schedule. I'm very bummed that Tanya can't meet us there :-( But, I know she will be there in spirit with her cousins. Hoping she can give us some good suggestions for restaurants and entertainment options!! These ladies I'm traveling with are not vegetarian and certainly not Vegan, but I have been wanting to try the Wynn Restaurants and their award winning Vegan menu. Maybe I can talk them into it (fingers crossed!) As far as our Cousins Road Trip to Yellowstone is going...I got a call from Stephen, my beloved travel agent, and he told me that Delta had a scheduling change with the flights. They eliminated my late morning flight which got us into Jackson Hole at 6:10pm (via Salt Lake City) and so I had the choice of either leaving crack of dawn (7am) or later in the day at 3:40pm. I opted for the laster flight being that I'm traveling with the kids. I'll get into Jackson Hole a little after 9pm, but that will be just fine. Stephen warned me that it is possible that they may change the schedule again, since the trip is a ways off (April 2015). We'll see what happens. At this point, Tanya and I are all booked with accommodations for this trip. Now, the fun part begins - planning our sightseeing and daily events. We'll start blogging about our itinerary when Tanya returns from her current Ski-Road Trip. Well, my dear peeps, I'm going to sign off - have lots of writing to do for some article submissions to a variety of travel publications. See you back here tomorrow!!! -E | Who's ready for a Road Trip?Good morning y'all! It's not quite bright and early yet over here, but it's time for us to hit the road! We'll be leaving Orange County and heading over 500 miles to Beautiful Lake Tahoe! This 14 Day Road Trip... Will loop us from Orange County, California to Lake Tahoe (both California & Nevada), then into Park City as well as Salt Lake City, Utah and then down to Brian Head, Utah and eventually through Las Vegas, Nevada on the way back. And the first stop will be at the Kirkwood Ski Resort! We are very excited to be hitting the slopes for the first time this season! Having spent the entire day... yesterday in the midst of organizing and doing chores to prepare us for heading out. As a bonus, I even made the time to un-decorate and take down the Christmas tree, and decorative household trimmings, with Dominic's help and as my mom wrapped all of the ornaments for storage. Until next December.. The evening was then spent loading the truck, picking up the kids ski leases, and going to pick up a rental car (for Dave B). I had a bit of shopping left to do and then back home to whip together some yummy dinner! And don't think for even a second that I was smart enough to go to bed early...because I didn't! Oh well, I'll get a better nights sleep tonight after a good day on the slopes! Let's go play in the snow, -T |
