Last Day of Christmas BreakHello there!!! Welcome back to our blog as we enjoy the first Sunday of 2015! Well, here we are - the last day of Christmas break :-( Kiddies are so sad that they return to school tomorrow. I know we are going to have a bit of an adjustment this coming week getting back on the routine. This too shall pass and before long, we'll be in the school groove and it will be February break - time for our Florida Road Trip! This weather here on Long Island, this weekend has been rainy, gray and generally depressing. Crossing my fingers that the first day back to school brings some sunshine with it. I've got to get my head back in the game as well. Many things coming up in the coming week. My 2015 calendar is getting awfully full! This month, the activity winds up slow. I have tickets to one Broadway show, The River with Hugh Jackman. It's also going to be a busy month of Girl Scout Cookie sales! Last year, Kelsey sold over 150 boxes. Her goal this year is to exceed that! Now that Girl Scout cookie sales have gone digital, it should be easier to get those out of town and out of state sales! I'm going to see what events I can squeeze into the next few weekends. I will have some more to report on Travelin' Tuesday! Last night we joined friends Denise and Marcelo for a little cake and celebration for their daughter Madison's 7th Birthday. We had time to laugh as well as lament about having to get back on the school routine again. Today will be a mellow day of exercising, cooking and getting the kids ready for the upcoming week of school. Have an AMAZING Sunday!!! -E | Do you know what day it is?Hi there! It's another Sunday and today happens to be Woohoo! National Spaghetti Day! The word “spaghetti” is plural for the Italian word spaghetto, which is a diminutive of spago, meaning “thin string” or “twine”. (Click on the above link for fun Spaghetti trivia!) What a better day for it to fall on than a Sunday, when we have sit around the able for a big Italian Dinner every week! I've got quite a few chores to tend to today, and packing is one of them. We are hitting the road early on Tuesday morning, and I pretty much still need to prepare everything! Here's a quick review on yesterday: On our way to taking Cosette to the stables in Chino Hills to see Dream and Star, we stopped for a healthy treat at Nekter for some fresh squeezed juices and shots of sweet yummy Wheatgrass! We had plans of also taking her to the stables in Anaheim Hills for a lesson. Well, the trainer had to cancel, and now Cosette will most likely have to wait for her next lesson until we get back from the . Ski Utah & Tahoe Road Trip Next, Dave B had been looking forward to grabbing a bite at Freesoul Caffe, so we headed in that direction and then decided to spend the remainder of the night at home playing games (which we tend to do around the holiday season). This is where things got CRAZY! Who knew that a game of Cranium amongst family & friends could turn into such ugliness? Having played this game just the night before, it had seemed like a good choice for the number of players that we had around the table. Well, true colors become revealed and apparently we have one more sore loser in this family (in addition to those we had already known about)! And I'll tell ya one thing, it's no fun to play with sore losers and/or bad attitudes... The game had started with 9 players and after the shenanigans we had lost 4 of the players (who didn't care to be a part of the elevating drama), in the end we had 3 people claim to: A) Never play Cranium again. B) To never play Cranium with the said "sore loser" ever again. AND C) To never play any games with this group again! So what seemed like a good fun & wholesome night, sure turned ugly! Aren't games suppose to be fun? Don't we teach our children that win or lose it's how you play the game? For some, it's obvious that losing and fighting definitely takes the fun right out of it. May the best player win...or at least please try to have a good time! In the end, win or lose it's how you play the game and how gracious you are at the finish line. And finally the last bit of fun for the exciting evening was going to Dave's and clearing off all of his 2014 Postcard to make room for all of the 2015 travels! From Alamogordo (NM) to York (UK), with cities ranging from Rome, London, Las Vegas, Sorrento, Vail, Whistler, Brussels, Galway City, Edinburgh, Pompei and much much more! By the numbers, he had 63 postcards (note that these are cards only from trips that he joined me on), cities/sights starting with the letter S topped the numbers with 7 cards, L coming in second with 5 cards, and A & C tying for third with 4 cards each! Good Times & Wonderful Memories!!! Until we meet again, -T |
