Shoppin' for EntertainmentHappy Saturday Peeps!! I know that today is Shopping Saturday, so I thought it was the perfect time to talk about “buyng” my Winter Theatre and Entertainment tickets. To me, good entertainment gives one the same rush of escape and liberation as does travel! I spent a great deal of time this past week perusing the Broadway line up for the upcoming months, The NYC Ballet and Metropolitan Opera schedules. If you are in New York or planning to visit, you may want to take special note of dates and times at the links below. I've listed my wish lists below: BROADWAY My first purchase for the winter season was for The Audience with Dame Helen Mirren for March. In this show, she plays Queen Elizabeth. CLICK HERE for a listing of upcoming shows on Broadway. My plan is to secure tickets for the following additional shows, once I hear back from my sis and friends for dates. I will definitely keep you in the loop!! I also ordered tickets for this month to see The River with Hugh Jackman!! * Wicked (dying to take the kids to see this!) * Phantom of the Opera (saw it 3 times over 20 years ago. Time to see it again!) * Kinky Boots (still haven't seen it! I know my sis, Danielle is up for this one!) * The River (it's with Hugh Jackman - need I say more!) * You Can't Take it With You (a classic comedy!) * Illuminate (looks like something the kids would enjoy) * Stomp (believe it or not, I've never seen this show. I think it's time! With the kids of course) * 50 Shades (Oh my, a musical?! C'mon, it's worth checking out) * The King and I (a classic - 'nuf said) * Into the Wood (last time I saw this was with Vanessa Williams. I think the kids would enjoy it!) * Skylight (Always enjoyed Bill Nighy - on Broadway and the big screen) Ok, so if I can manage all these in the upcoming months, I will have accomplished a great deal!!! Will certainly have lots to review! NYC BALLET As for the NYC Ballet, I was so BUMMED that Romeo & Juliet would only be presented the week of February 13th - 22 - the same week I am away on my Florida Road Trip! This is one of my favorite Ballets. So, in lieu of this, I decided to get tickets for George Balanchine's West Side Story Suite in May and A Midnight Summer Night's Dream (which I saw many years ago and was one of the most beautiful ballets I have ever seen) in early June. CLICK HERE for the full 2015 NYC Ballet Schedule. METROPOLITAN OPERA I know it's a little biased, but Italian operas to me are the best! I saw Don Giovanni a few years ago for the first time, thanks to a very old and dear opera loving friend, and I LOVED it!! This charming production, composed by Mozart, will grace the stage of the Met throughout February. It's a busy month for me, but I'm considering it. Of course, there are many others that I would enjoy seeing but the one that really caught my eye is Ernani. A real romance, which I'm a sucker for and composed by Giuseppe Verdi starring Placido Domingo! CLICK HERE for the full MET schedule. I was very productive today and ordered the tickets for Ernani as well as for NYC Ballet West Side Story Suite! We've been getting some great feedback from our followers lately, which is such a delight!! I can't tell you how much it brightens up our day when we hear from you!! Please give us your thoughts, comments and suggestions!! Enjoy this day and see ya back here tomorrow!!! E Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn't stop to enjoy it. | Floats, Family and Fun!Hello Hello Hello! Welcome back to Travelin' Cousins, and thanks for stoppin' by to check out the SCOOP! As planned, we had headed out to check out the amazing and creative Post Parade Floats - from the Historic Annual Tournament of Roses New Years Day Parade. This year there were 41 different floats and the event itself requires about 80,000 hours of combined manpower each year! CHECK OUT SOME OF THESE VERY COOL FLOATS: Over all we had a super fun filled day, as well as managing to satisfy our tastebuds with an array of fun foodie stops, we even threw in some party rockin' on the drive, and came home to a table full of family fun for game night! Definitely ended the night on a sweet note from our stop at Donut Friend... And today will be fairly mellow, heading to the horse stables for Cosette's lesson, and we need to go pick up the season lease for the kids ski equipment. Not sure where else the day will take us, but I'll be sure to let you know all about it back here in tomorrow's Daily Scoop! Wishing you a great Saturday! -T |
