Elisa's Daily ScoopDreaming of EgyptHey there! Have you been following Tanya's FAB trip to Canada?? Today she hails from Quebec City and her loving cousin is quite jealous!! Looks like you are having a blast Cuz!! So happy for you! But, I'd be even happier if I were with you! First things first - I apologize for attaching the link to my review of The River so late. It was a complete oversight and I do hope you enjoy it. This Broadway drama starring the multi-talented Hugh Jackman will have its final performance on February 8th. So, if you are inclined to see it, get your tickets quickly! Ok, short vent -- I just found out from my dear friend Maria that she and her family will be traveling to her hubby's homeland of Egypt for Winter break next month (February). This was a very spur of the moment trip and I need to say how bummed I am because had we NOT been going to Florida, I would have eagerly JUMPED on this trip in an instance and joined our friends!! I can't think of anything better than going on a trip of a lifetime to a destination like Eqypt with close friends, and with one who knows the ins and outs of the country, culture and language. We've talked for a while about planning a trip with Maria and her husband Ed, that would include Egypt and Israel, and now more than ever, I'm more intent than ever to get this amazing voyage on the calendar!! Speaking of trips, I'm getting very excited about my March trip to Las Vegas with my sister, Danielle and our friend Cheryl (the same Cheryl who went on my China Adventure with me in 1991!!). The three of us have not had a girls weekend in I can't tell you how long! This is going to be a trip filled with lots of laughs, good food and great activities!! Well, my dear peeps, its time for me to go. I'll talk with you tomorrow! Have a great day and be well!! -E | Tanya's Daily ScoopI Love Quebec City!Greetings and Bonjour from none other than the Unesco site and one of my very favorite cities - Quebec City! Quebec City founded in 1608 is one of the oldest European settlements in North America. While many of the major cities in Latin America date from the sixteenth century, among cities in Canada and the U.S.A., few were created earlier than Quebec City (St. John's, Harbour Grace, Port Royal, St. Augustine, Santa Fe, Jamestown, and Tadoussac). Also, Quebec's Old Town (Vieux-Québec) is the only North American fortified city north of Mexico whose walls still exist! From the very moment we pulled into town I had yet again fell in love with this amazing old city! I was honestly completely overtaken, overwhelmed, and just elated! Arriving into town in the evening last night after another lovely day in Mont-Tremblant! We really had no choice and had to go have more Maple Taffy - it's just soooo good! The kids tend to savor theirs and I'm more like the Tootsie Roll Owl (as Cosette put it), I have maybe 1, 2, 3 small licks and then GULP it's gone! Wow, I usually take my time on things, but I guess I have no resistance to Maple Taffy! Lol But before leaving this lovely mountain village, we had went for a Sleigh Ride and let me tell you that out of all the sleigh rides that I've ever been on in my life & around the globe - this one was the BEST! Two massive and beautiful Percherons, Leah & Duke led a historical sleigh that was driven by the local owner Mr Gerrard Emond and used and owned by his father many years ago to transport tourists 12km from the train station to the mountain resort in the harsh winters; back when the roads were not cleared and any other mode of transportation was impossible. The ride came with a guide/storyteller and we rode off into the forest. Songs were sang, and laughs were had. It was really quite magical! Dashing through the snow In a one-horse open sleigh O'er the fields we go Laughing all the way Bells on bobtail ring Making spirits bright What fun it is to ride and sing A sleighing song tonight! Jingle bells, jingle bells, Jingle all the way. Oh! what fun it is to ride In a one-horse open sleigh. What a wonderful memory that was in the making, for the best thing about memories is truly making them! And I expect that today will be yet another one for our memory books... We are heading right now to go dog sledding! We've mushed once before during another Canada trip (to Banff National Park - which is astonishingly beautiful, and I plan to go back to next winter), and it was very mush fun!! Get it? "Mush" fun?! Lol We'll also be going to check out the very beautiful Montmorency Falls - The falls, at 84 meters (275 ft) high and 46 meters (150 ft) wide, are the highest in the province of Quebec and 30 meters (98 ft) higher than Niagara Falls. The basin at the foot of the falls is 17 meters (56 ft) deep. And I shall not forget that today is TBT (Throwback Thursday) and I plan on posting a story about a trip that I took to Glacier National Park in Montana - which is definitely one of my very favorite National Parks in the Country! Look for it to be posted later today! Tally-ho Folks; it's time for me to go Mush! Have a great one! -T |
