Blizzard on the Way...Greetings from New York - that's right - I'm at home on Long Island while Tanya woke up on Day 2 in Quebec. Today, however, we have one thing in common - SNOW!! That's right - as my daughter Rebecca says, we are bracing ourselves for a SNOWPOCALYPSE today!! According to the National Weather Center, Long Islanders will be hit with over 30 inches of snow during the next 24 hours! The current temperatures are not terribly cold - certainly not like what Tanya is experiencing in Quebec - they are hovering between 25 and 29 degrees, however, I can attest to the fact that the winds are high from the way things are blowing outside my kitchen window. Winds gusts are expected to hit 20 mph today and close to 30 mph tomorrow! Everyone, please be careful and stay off the roads unless it is absolutely necessary. I have to admit, I'm not terribly upset that we are expecting this blizzard. In the first place, it's Winter, and what would Winter be without at least one good storm for the season. Secondly, being snowed in allows you to recharge the battery, relax and catch up on your favorite movies. Lastly, there's nothing more exciting than seeing the kids' eyes light up with joy when they hear those two amazing words: SNOW DAY!!! As for me, I'll be doing some writing today - actually, stay tuned for my review of The River on Broadway. I'll be posting that tomorrow. I'll also be doing a little "Disney World" feature in my Daily tomorrow for Travelin' Tuesday! Well, good luck to all of you who are going to be affected by the snow storm! For us Long Islanders, let's hope that no one loses power!! See ya back here tomorrow!!! -E | Bonjour!Good Monday Morning to one and all! How delightful it always is to wake up on vacation! In the past, I've heard people refer to vacationers or travelers... A vacationer - doesn't really have a plan, and kinda is just away to relax! A traveler - always has a plan, is always on the go, does and sees lots! You can guess which one I am. Which one are you? We arrived yesterday morning with little sleep and we were off! With the windchill it was a brisk -12F, and although I had given caution to the kids, they still couldn't believe just how COLD it really was! After doing a bit of shopping at a local health food chain, we started the day with a brunch that was just out of this world! Yup it was that GOOD! At one point during the meal, I even commented: "This is so good, I don't wanna finish it, I'm just gonna look at it!" And this is coming a day after Cosette made this comment about me (after I was deciding if I wanted my half of a dessert): "I could tell you like it!" and I asked her "How?" Her reply "Because you took a second bite!" We continued the day with going to a vegan bakery, a lovely traditional Chinese tea house, an exhilarating 2 mile walk in the freezing cold! We saw Old Montreal, the Vieux Port, attempted to check out the Igloo Festival (only to find out that there was a minimum age requirement), did a small amount of bopping in and out of stores (only because many of them were closed by this time). And then finally headed to dinner. Today, we are going onto the Basilica Notre-Dame (I decided to postpone this from yesterday), checking out the view from Mont-Royal and then heading for Mont-Tremblant, checking out the lovely mountain village and of course going for a sleigh ride! I wish you a most fabulous Monday! Catch me back here tomorrow and tell you all about today's SCOOP! -T |
