Shopping Saturday Recap of Stella & Dot "Glam Getaway" Event

Well hello and happy Saturday!!  And a sunny one at that, here on Long Island.  

I've got a busy, busy day today.  The girls and I will be doing some errands - laundry and food shopping first thing this morning.  

Then we'll be headed for a special Mom & Daughter Saturday morning brunch right here in Garden City to kick off the weekend.

So, let me get right into my Shopping Saturday fun re-cap!!

I've known Dottie for years, as our girls went to school together for many years and during this time, we were also co-troop leaders for our daughters' Girl Scout Troop. 

Since that time, I've really moved along in the development and expansion of Travelin' Cousins blog and the new travel services that we offer AND Dottie began her new home-based business as a stylist for the exclusive brand, Stella & Dot.

We reconnected a few weeks ago, after a few years - her daughter left the school for a few years, and now both of our daughters are once again, attending the same high school - and realized that the merits and customer benefits of each of our respective businesses were quite compatible and would offer twice the fun and purchasing options for our friends and neighbors if we collaborated our efforts.

As a result, the "Glam Getaway" Event was born, and our event was the other night (Thursday) and proved to be a great joint effort production!!!

Our goal was to bring together the amazingly gorgeous and versatile jewelry, accessories, bags and clothing of Stella & Dot and combine it with a few possible trip ideas and itineraries complements of Travelin' Cousins!

And if I do say so myself, our concept proved to be a great success.  As we all know, one of the most significant parts of the travel process is planning and packing what to wear, how to accessorize and how best (and with what!) to pack it all.

Our focus for the night on "Glam Getaways" featuring four possible trips and presenting fashionable and practical solutions for each getaway.

The getaways were as follows:

• Tourist Day in The Big Apple
• Romantic Weekend in Rhinebeck, NY
• Girls Getaway to New Orleans
• Tropical Island Vacay in Punta Cana NOW All-Inclusive Resort

I did my presentation featuring itineraries for each of the above getaways and the items that I would bring and/or pack for each of them, which included some of my new Stella & Dot faves.

Dottie would then present various clothing, bag and accessory possibilities that would compliment each destination in greater detail.

I will not lie  - I fell in love with the Stella & Dot product line.  Innovative and meticulously designed jewelry, beautifully crafted handbags, backpacks, overnight and weekender bags, just perfect for all kinds of travel -   whether it be a daycation, or extended stay getaway. Always with the focus on being Glam and fashionable.

I'll be featuring more about this woman-run and woman-supporting company as well as their products - showcased on none other than me - going forward.

For now, all I can say is how happy I am that we decided to do this event which I hope is the first of many!  What we found was that our guests loved how we assisted them in getting mentally organized with the packing process, with practical solutions and product offerings that fit the needs of each type of trip - be it a day out in the city, a weekend away with the man in their lives or their besties, or a relaxing week away at a beach resort.

It also gave me an opportunity to share more information about AMResorts and the many destinations to which they cold go in style to a luxury all-inclusive beach vacay at discounted prices, for which Travelin' Cousins could arrange for them as well as customized travel itineraries for their desired destination.

I cannot wait to receive my new Stella & Dot items AND to launching our next "Glam Getaway" event! Thanks Dottie for a great night!!

Greetings from SoCal!

We made it home last night after a long long day of strolling around Barcelona and then traveling from Barcelona back to the states.
By the time we got home we had been awake for over 24hrs and by the time I went to bed in SoCal was about 28hrs after waking up in Barcelona!

My apologies for not having the time to bop on to the internet yesterday and also for the error of stating that I was currently  in SoCal.
While I did manage to type up my blog, I  hadn't had the chance to get online and post it until late last night. Please read all about our visit to Monserrat and Park Guell HERE.

While I meant to take my SLR with us about town yesterday, I left the room without it as we headed out to Mercado de La Boqueria (as they were opening and setting up for the day) and to one of my faves: Santoni to pick up some goodies to bring back to the fam bam.

I had requests from back home of Empanadas and Nutella filled Croissants to fill and so we wandered the streets of Barcelona one last morning before heading to the airport for our afternoon flight.

Then we bid our good byes to this fine city. Until we meet again...Probably in 2020!

The flights (2), the first to JFK was nice and roomy since the flight wasn't full and we had an entire row of 4 seats to ourselves, which was wonderful. Dave slept and I binged watching movies (that I had fallen asleep on in the past) and some funny TV.

But then there was of course the hassle of going through customs in NY, then recollecting our luggage, only to recheck it once again and go through security again as well before heading to LAX.

The trip to LAX was a bumpy one and I tried to nap a bit on this flight after watching a movie.

Once we had landed I had to report some damage that was done to my hard-case which now either needs repair or replacement. UGH 

And then to meet our ride. Violet was coming to pick us up and to our surprise Cosette came along to pick up her momma as well which was a delight!!

We told stories of our travels on the ride back and then we were greeted with many hugs once arriving at our home. There was more laughter, stories and of course the handing out of all the gifts we brought back. It was a fine night.

I'll be back to fill you in on how my first day back in SoCal goes along with any and all new travel plans in the works.
