Learning and CookingHey Peeps!! Early, early day for a Sunday on this end. This week is the start of Catholic School's Week and since Gianna and Kelsey attend Catholic school, the fun and festivities begins today. We'll start off the day with 9:00AM mass and then go into their respective classes to see the display of projects they've all been working on. During the next few days, the kids will enjoy fun activities at school including Spirit Day, where they will play games and compete for fun; the annual Spelling Bee and a themed week of "The Wizard of Oz." I didn't expect to be eating desserts today, but how could I possibly insult my own daughter and not try her sweet creations?? (Great justification Elisa!)
I started with one of the apple turnovers and let me tell you just how scrumptious it is to have one that is fresh out of the oven. The apple filling was warm and oozed out slightly when I bit into the crispy, outer puff pastry. It had a sweet, sugary glaze on it as well - YUM just doesn't do it!
Then if that wasn't enough, Gianna gave me a piece of the Cranberry Scones that were taken out of the oven while I was scoffing down the apple turnover. It was hot and flakey and the flecks of orange zest were gorgeous!
Am I one lucky woman to have a baker for a daughter!
Tanya heading on a trip again...
Ok, can I tell you how jealous I am of Tanya!!! She's leaving again for Winter Carnival in Quebec. We were supposed to meet those guys there next month, but I got totally voted down by my kids who wanted to go to Florida. BOO!!
I actually started to work out a schedule that would include both trips. I thought - hmmm, if I take the kids out of school a few days before their winter break, we can drive up to Canada, spend 4 nights and then high tail it back to New York - get on a flight to Orlando and spend 5 or so nights in Disney World.
That also did not go over good with anyone! I love my family, but they do seem to put the Ka-Bash on my great travel plans!!
So, as a result of not going to Winter Carnival (which I am sooooooo depressed about), I had decided to make the Florida trip a theme park road trip instead of just a trip to Disney World. I'm excited but jealous nonetheless. Have to squeeze that in next January/February.
And just to be productive today, I ordered my tickets to Universal Studios today AS WELL AS Fast Passes for these key rides at Disney World:
Epcot
- Soarin'
- Test Track
- Mission Space
Animal Kingdom
- Animal Kingdom Safari
- Expedition Everest

And what a freakin' BUMPY ride it was!
Holy smokes, that was crazier than Mr Toad's Wild Ride! But we are here safe and sound, which is what counts.
In all seriousness, in as much as I fly - this was the most turbulent flight of my life!

Greeting from Montreal Canada!!
We took the red eye yesterday from LAX, had a quick stop over in Toronto and arrived at 9AM this morning in Montreal.

My little gang definitely know that sleeping on a red eye is a must do, because once we land there's just no stopping me!
On today's agenda...
First is heading to pick up some necessary vegan supplies for the trip, then off to have a lovely brunch at Invitation V, followed by checking out the
Notre-Dame de Montréal Basilica, dating back to 1672, and being one of the top attractions in Montreal!
We'll also be freezing our booties off the entire time spent outdoors, and heading down the street to have tea at Ming Tao Xuan, one of my very favorite stops here in Montreal!
Followed by going to Old Montreal (the city’s oldest neighborhood, and a once walled district of Vieux Montréal).
Ya know, just doing some general fun sightseeing!
We'll head to the 32nd annual FÊTE DES NEIGES DE MONTRÉAL -
Which is a A free event on several weekends with a huge variety of winter activities! Ziplines, tube sliding, sled dog tours, skating, shows, music and much more!
Oh and did I mention that we'll be freezing our booties off?
But I do have plans of escaping the harsh winter weather by ducking into the underground city and taking advantage of all La Ville Souterraine has to offer!
