Tanya's Daily Scoop Covering the West Coast & the World NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 6 DAYS
Girls Night Out
Good Day Guys and Gals (and whomever else might be reading this)!
I'm quite glad that it's only Wednesday and that although I've been busy, that this week is not flying by. I just have too darn much to do before leaving again that I am totally appreciating the freakishly slower than usual days.
Plus, yesterday after publishing the Daily Scoop I had received a highly frustrating call from good 'ol REI. It seems that the heels on my ski boots are too warn down to do a safety test and this has opened the door to a day full of headaches and bad moods. Ugh
My choices seemed to be either buy new heel replacements for my old boots (the cheaper option) however since my boots are more than a few years old, they are not even certain that they still make heel replacements for my model, not to mention that it will take at least 2-3 weeks to arrive. Ugh Ugh
Another option would be buying new boots. Have you know and recall that I was not in the market for new skis or new boots and now I'm kinda being put into this situation all because of the stupid decorative layer peeling off. Ugh Ugh Ugh
Okay okay, so after the roller coaster of an afternoon and feeling really depressed and annoyed. Once I had shared this mess of mine with a friend, he had suggested that I contact another ski shop (why didn't I think of this?!). LOL
And that is just what I did!
I actually found a ton of other local ski shops that I had no clue even existed. I made a call, explained my situation and was told that this "other" ski shop can do the epoxy job (for much much less than what REI wanted to charge).
Okay so I guess I'll just return my new skis (yes the ones I was so excited about as of just yesterday) and go the ghetto route.
This was my new plan and I was fine with it...
Until finding out that REI had already removed the bindings from my old skis. Which means that to even have them put back on to my old skis and to stick with the new plan of returning the new skis, getting the epoxy job, etc. I will still need to sign a waiver that REI cannot do a safety check. Ugh ugh ugh ugh
So back to my frustration and being bummed about this situation.
And I happened to initially take that attitude with me when I met up with my girlfriend Jodie last night.
We had plans of going to a Hockey game to see the Anaheim Ducks play the New York Rangers.

I met up with Jodie across the street at a brewery where she was sitting at a table with 2 guys. I didn't expect that we were going to the game with more than just us two. So I was taken back a bit.
I took a seat and had introduced myself, though still a bit distracted about my dumb ski situation. Being a bit far off and distant I sat there and was certainly not being the most friendly, just wanting to share my frustrating day with Jodie (who is a skier and would understand). Who cares about these other two! LOL
I would soon come to realize that we were not going to the game with these guys and that Jodie had only just met them at the brewery that night.
We strolled across the street and to the Honda Center to find our seats. And then to watch the Rangers completely embarrass themselves and SUCK out there. Losing 5-3.

But just by watching the game and seeing these players skate out there, my mood had quickly lifted and memories of my ice skating days and hanging out with my hockey playing buddies had filled my mind. I was yearning to be on the ice!

And although it was not the best game, we still had a good night and enjoyed ourselves.
And just like at any game, you'll find some interesting fans/characters...in this case it was Towel Man! LOL

Oh well, I'll see how today goes. I've pretty much had it in regards to this ski situation... But of course I need my skis ready to go in only 6 days.
Hopefully everything works out, -T
Elisa's Daily Scoop Covering Long Island & NYC Boroughs CURRENTLY ON LONG ISLAND
Happy, Happy Hump Day! How has your week been? Mine is going great - jam packed with errands, to do's and excitement!
I'm still a bit in shock that my little girl will be going to high school next year! Registration is this week and once I write that check, she is officially a student at her new high school!
Today is pretty much a regular day - filled with writing and car pooling the kids around. But, tomorrow, I have long-awaited dinner plans with my good friend Andrea. We have not been able to get together since before the holidays for a little one-on-one girl time to catch up.
So, tomorrow evening is the night. Actually, it's been a while since I went out for some girlfriend time. These days, at least we have text to keep in touch daily. But, nothing compares to getting together!
Speaking of girlfriends, something all of us need every so often is a Girls' Getaway. I came across this article in the Huffington Post, that I wanted to share with you, The Best Girlfriend Getaways in The U.S.
