Snowy, Showy SaturdayYay - so happy it's Saturday! Woke up to a blanket of snow this morning here on Long Island. I had to get up and out to take Gianna to A La Carte cooking school for the first of a series of three baking classes. She loves these classes and I'm so happy that she has embraced baking with such passion. So, last night I went to see The River on Broadway with Hugh Jackman. As I mentioned in my blog yesterday, I soo wanted to get a picture with Hugh Jackman, but unfortunately, that was not possible. After the show (which by the way, was very intense - it took me till this morning to figure it out), I raced to the stage door and of course, there was already a ring of people around the gate surrounding it. I managed to mush my way up and make friends with someone who let me in to the front. As we were waiting, a man came out and announced that Hugh would be out soon, BUT, he would only be signing autographs and NOT taking pictures. Bummer!! I did get my Playbill signed!! But not getting a selfie was a let down. :-( I can't think of a show that I've gone to in the last year that I was unable to get a photo with cast members. Boo! So, in lieu of getting a photo live with Mr. Jackman, I settled on one with the poster outside the Circle in the Square theatre. Prior to dinner, we had dinner at Da Marino located on West 49th Street. It was really good - the atmosphere, piano player and delicious Italian food. I'll be featuring Da Marino on an upcoming Foodie Friday! With this Winter weather, the cold temps and the grayness and being so cold, I'm longing for the warm weather of Summer. Thank goodness I'll be in the warm Florida sun in three weeks. I'm going to begin sorting through my summer clothes today that I want to bring with me. I think it will be a good distraction from the messy snow outside! Hopin' it's a great day for you!! -E | Heading out again!Howdy all of my peeps and peepettes! Today is THE day! Yup, I'll be taking off once again! Quebec Winter Carnival Here I Come!!! How exciting!!! We are heading to Quebec! I just luv that city. It's so very adorable, and I can't wait to get there! Definitely the closest thing to Europe in North America. And we should all know by now how much I luv luv luv Europe! Well, I have a few more things to take care of before heading up to Los Angeles. We'll probably grab a bite at Doomies (which I will review in a FFF - Future Foodie Friday), and then head over to the airport. Very happily I did manage to finish most of my packing before taking Cosette to her Horse Back riding lesson yesterday. And as I type out the Daily Scoop and look out the window, it is SUPER DUPER windy! We are actually on a HIGH WIND WARNING until 10PM tonight. Areas of North to Northeast winds 25 to 35 MPH with gusts up to 55 to 60 MPH. Isolated gusts to 75 MPH! I sure hope that all the trees remain intact for this! Unlike last month when our 60ft tree split and came crashing down on Andrew's car and on our front balcony. No noise was horrifying! So very lucky for Cosette that I was able to take her to do her back to back horsey days before this wind started going crazy. Horses just simply DO NOT like the wind and are prone to spooking when it's windy. And being around a spooking horse is not exactly where you want to find yourself! Speaking of which... I have a quick but sad bit of a story to tell about a horse that got spooked yesterday. Right before Cosette and I had arrived at the stables. There was a tragedy... A poor little kid goat (baby goat) was being chased by a human kid and had tried to get away by running underneath a nearby horse. Well to no fault of the horse, he spooked, and wound up breaking the leg of the poor little goat and crushing his insides. Needless to say that the goat had to be put down. This is a problem people - what on earth is wrong with so many of the parents in this country??? Poor parenting is what I chalk it up as. This poor sweet innocent kid goat had to die and the kid who was chasing him will now have that image plastered in his mind for the rest of his life. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I beg of you. I see it too often. Please do not let your children chase animals! And now, on a happier note... Stay tuned for LIVE blogging from Quebec, as I go find some new adventures! As for now, I think we're gonna head over to FREESOUL CAFFE for a yummy breakfast and then I've got an appointment at the salon to get my nails done - gotta be fresh and perfect for the trip! Hope you have a wonderful day! Toodles, -T |
