Tanya's Daily Scoop Covering the West Coast & the World NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 7 DAYS
Something's got me excited!
Well for starters I'll share that yesterday was a rather busy run around sort of day. I'm not at all venting.. I like being busy. But it was also a day in the life (my life) without any pictures....and those days are quite rare!!
One of the stops I had this past weekend was going to one of my favorite stores: REI To take my skis in for repair - as I shared with you last week.
The top (decorative) layer of my ski began to peel off. Well the outcome was that it is pretty much gonna cost an arm and a leg just to add epoxy and end up with a GHETTO looking ski. Or attempt to peel off all of the decorative layer and end up with a GHETTO looking ski! LOL Mind you that I love these skis since the day I got them and their functionality is still perfect!
But looking ghetto is not necessarily my all time fave!
Oh well I was willing to just deal with it. But my dear sweetheart Dave wasn't...
So as it turns out it, we took a looksie at some new skis and it seems like I will be taking home a pair of those babies home tomorrow night!!!!!
My new Salomon LUX skis!!!
I'm pretty darn stoked, I can hardly hold back my excitement and certainly cannot wait to hit the slopes, find some powder and try them out!
Oh and check this out...my nails even match my new skis!!
I've got one week before we are on our way to Park City and our second ski trip of the season. Bring on the snow!
But in the meantime, I have lots to do in order to prepare for being away another 2 weeks.
And during those 2 weeks we are looking forward to visiting with a couple of our friends and buddies who live out in those parts of the country and who are planning on hitting the slopes with us!

And lastly for today, just to give you a picture of some of my upcoming travels:
Jan 30 - Feb 12 Park City, UT & Breckenridge, CO
Feb 16 - 20 Chicago, IL
Feb 23 - 25 Death Valley National Park
Mar 6 - 19 Rome, Italy & exploring Ireland
Mar 23 - 25 Phoenix, AZ
Of course there is plenty more, but you're just gonna have to come back to find out what they are!
Soooo if you've already bopped on over to Elisa's column then you've seen the super lovely sounding rail experience that she has posted! I think that sounds great and the price for the six day trip is amazing! Who's in? Im game!!!
The other super awesome thing she has posted is pictures from our 2015 European Rail Trip. What an amazing time we had!!
In fact, it was partially because of that "sampler" trip that I am heading back to that region in May.
It was originally suppose to be with the kiddos, but they have backed out - simply not interested in going to Europe in March and then again in May. Personally I just don't get that mind set.
YES CUZ I CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR NEXT TRIP TOGETHER!!!
On that note - I'll say Ciao, -T

Memories of Tanya and Elisa's European Rail Trip
Hey! Well, let me tell you what an exciting day I had yesterday! There was an incoming Freshman Reception for Gianna's new high school.
There were essentially two priorities for Gianna - first, to get all the information for her to get into the advanced science program - which requires a placement test in March. She will be registering for the test this week. The second thing was to buy her new sweat shirt! All of the girls seemed to have the same thing in mind and it was so heartwarming to see them all pose for a picture!!

Talk about being a proud mamma - I was beaming that my little girl was accepted and will be in all honors classes - not to mention (for the 100th time) that she also received a scholarship!!
Gianna has wanted to be a doctor now for several years and her desire has only increased as she's gotten older. So, she is realizes how important the next four years are to get into a good college that offers a combined BA/MD program. Of course, I'm pretty sure she will have lots of fun as well in her new high school!!
Sooo, as far as the rest of the week goes, I am really excited about my visit on Friday to Sagamore Hill! Sagamore Hill was the home of the 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, from 1885 until his death in 1919. It's located in Oyster Bay, Long Island.

I'll be writing more about my visit in next week's feature in Elisa's Long Island and Travelin' 25 entitled 25 Great Reasons to Visit Long Island in Winter. This will be published next Monday, January 29th.
My absolute favorite one featured in the above article - hands down - is Russia: A Rossiya Train Journey.
According to the article: "A long-haul train of superlatives, the pricey trans-Siberian is the world’s longest and most varied single-train rail journey: It crosses almost all of Russia, passing mountains, rivers, the world’s deepest lake, and just about any other kind of scenery you can imagine. To do it in luxury, the Golden Eagle makes its 15-day trip four times each way in 2018, with opulent private rooms, high-end dining, and extended stops and excursions along the way—starting at $31,000 per couple."
Okay, this doesn't sound terribly economical to me, but the article goes on... "For something more economical, the Russian Railway Rossiya train journey takes six nights, with a few short stops to stretch your legs. For a land cruise, you’ll want the top accommodation, a two-berth compartment, for which the Russian Railway website currently posts $767 per person, or $1,534 per couple (for travel in mid-March)."
