What an episode...

Happy Saturday from the road!
We are on our way to (see below)..

Another day, another place to stay?
Yes folks, we moved yesterday.
Where'd we move to? Literally across the street! 
But what an ordeal it was...
I had reserved a taxi ahead of time, before knowing where our new accommodations were (we only found out after check in at the property management office).

Anyhoo, we kinda felt like idiots that we were gonna load all of our very many bags into a taxi to only go across the street.

How freakin' lazy are we gonna look?!
But guess what???
The cab NEVER SHOWED! I called to find out what was up, and they lost our reservation.

They were willing to send out a cab asap, but I told them to forget it, and told the kids that we'd muscle it and tough it out!

Yes it was only across the street, but it was uphill and icy, oh and did I mention that there was a lot of stuff?

But in the same fashion as Elisa has noted from our 2015 Euro Rail Trip that I schlepp up hills, like a farm animal. So I hoofed it up like a farm animal and although my preference is One Trip Only - we had made it in two trips - there was no way we could've done it in one!

Now prior to getting settled in, the kids and I took another nice lakeside stroll and wound up at the playground once again. 

​The kids had fun playing around and I was having fun playing with different camera settings.

Come evening time I needed to help Dave navigate the best way to LAX (there was a ton of traffic and he was a bundle of nerves). If he got to the terminal any later and he would've missed his flight!

But he made it, and arrived safely into Denver.
Then when he was almost ready to truck it on up here, he sent me photos of the SUV selection that he was offered from DOLLAR RENT A SCAM.

We had reserved a Standard SUV and not one of the vehicles that was being offered was of standard size - they were all considered compact SUVs!

I became LIVID. There was no way we would all fit along with our luggage in a compact SUV.

And this wasn't the first time that this Denver International Airport Dollar location has tried to scam us and force us into an upgrade! 

When you reserve a specific size vehicle, that is what you expect to get - not some toy sized version!

Last time this happened I called and spoke to corporate and had the situation fixed immediately. This time I attempted the same steps, however the department that I would need to speak with won't be open until Monday...

So Dave went right back in and spoke with the manager on duty and guess what...was basically forced into an upgrade to get the actual size vehicle that was initially reserved. SCAM I tell you. And you can be sure that I will be making that phone call on Monday. #notahappycustomer

Anyhow Dave made it up late last night, and we all hit the sack. Luckily he spent the entire week catching up on plenty-o-zzz's since he got back to SoCal on Monday - because I kinda think we might exhaust him once again...

Well, I'm pretty darn excited about today...
We got a BIG DAY ahead of us, and we are heading to Rocky Mountain National Park!!!
YES another National Park, but not only that, this is one that I haven't ever been to! 

Can you believe that? After all of these years of coming to Colorado - I haven't ever been to Rocky Mountain National Park!

And so after checking things out in the park (more on this tomorrow), we are going horseback riding!

I just love horseback riding in the snow!
It's so much fun...though it certainly has been a while since we've gone horse back riding in the snow - but it's always a BLAST!
Then we'll be heading to Denver for dinner and last but not least seeing a movie - the kids want to see 'Daddy's Home' with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. 

All in all, it should be a long packed fun filled day.

​Snow, Snow & More Snow

What a Snowy Saturday!!!!

Wow, is it coming down!  There is truly a blizzard here on Long Island.

The flurries started last night at around 10pm.  I could hear the wind through the night, but had no idea just how much snow was actually falling.

I awoke to the text of the kids' riding trainer telling us there were no lessons today.  I thanked her for letting us know and rolled back to sleep.

By the time I got up, I was awe-struck by the accumulation!!  It was gorgeous!!

The local officials declared Long Island in a state of emergency and the New York Governor advised that many of the roads would be closed.

We're pretty well bunkered down here, me and Gianna.  My only regret is that Kelsey is not here huddled with us (insert sad face).  She is spending the weekend with her Dad out East.  I'm sure she is having a blast in the huge snow drifts!!!  I'm hopeful that her dad will be able to get her back here tomorrow with the additional snow expected.

Me and Gianna decided to come over to my sissy's house today so if we are housebound, we are all together.
 
The temps are actually quite nice out, making it very enjoyable to be out in the white stuff!!

So, I think it's time to go eat - all this snow is making me hungry!!!

Now, both Travelin' Cousins are in the snow!!!
