Tanya's Daily Scoop Covering the West Coast & the World NEXT TRIP DEPARTS IN: 9 DAYS
From Skiing to Ice Skating
Hey Hey Hey :)
A very Happy Sunday to you!
I had a very full day yesterday and I'm just about to step on out to have breakfast.
So in other words - I'll be back a bit later to fill you in...
AND - I'm back, sure it's a day late but now you've got me!
Saturday, just hours after our return from skiing all week up at beautiful Lake Tahoe, it was a planned social day for us with the International Peace Choir.
The plan was to go Ice Skating and I was all over that!
We went to the Rinks in Westminister (where the Anaheim based Hockey team - the Anaheim Ducks practice) .

Excitedly we stepped inside and immediately I could "smell" the ice. A very familiar scent to my sniffer.
For those of you who might be unaware, I use to be a competitive figure skater and had trained at the same facility and same time as the 2006 Olympic silver medalist & member of the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame - Sasha Cohen.
Bet you didn't know that!
Yup back in the day, the ice was my life and I spent a good 30-40 hours a week honing in on my skills.
Many friends and many memories came from that Golden Era period of my existence.
So just about any 'ol time that I have the opportunity to brush the dust off of my SP Teris, I am all over it!

Another little tidbit of info is that my dear Cosette had also taken up ice skating (once upon a time ago) and after skating with a few friends, she has new found interest in returning to the ice and taking lessons once again!

Overall, we had spent an absolutely lovely afternoon skating around with friends. And I'm so happy that we got back into town, in time to go!
NOW IT'S STORY TIME:
Once I was just stepping onto the ice for the very first time of the day, the absolute most ridiculous thing happened to me...
It was quite comical - I was bust chatting it up with friends, when I took step onto the freshly Zamboni(ed) ice AND my feet went flying out from under me like a scene from some crazy cartoon or movie! WTH?!
And then I saw it...
I totally forgot to take off my skate guards and had stepped out onto the ice still wearing the rubber guards - which are NOT meant for the ice!
Oh what I fool I felt like!!!!!

Right....but that is not all.
Before actually making it one lap around, my BUTT took to the ice one more time! This time I was pulled off balance by my weighty pocketbook (which I never skate with, but because I didn't have a "good" pocket for my phone and camera, I had decided it was a good idea!) UGH
HOW FREAKING EMBARRASSING!
What a fun day! (c)travelincousins.com
Next up was finally getting a bite to eat. Heck I may not have let on, but I was pretty starving!
We went to the newly opened location of Golden Road Brewery - which was a LOUD and very happening place.
Surprising little fact: Most Breweries have Vegan options!
That's all for now folks.
I'm outie, -T
Elisa's Daily Scoop Covering Long Island & NYC Boroughs CURRENTLY ON LONG ISLAND
Hey guys, I cannot believe how this - I literally passed out at like 9pm last night and woke up at 8am! Not gonna lie, I did wake up at 3:30 and watched a few videos on YouTube, but seriously, was that a great night's sleep or what!!!
Hope you had a more exciting Saturday night than I did. My afternoon yesterday was spent driving back and forth to get Gianna. She went to 5:00 mass with her friends and I thought I would have some time to chill before picking her up from what was supposed to be, a walk to town to get some grub with the group. But, before I had a chance to relax, she texted me "come now." It's nice to have an on-call taxi driver!
Anyway, today, we are headed into Astoria for a celebration brunch with Aunt Ro to congratulate Gianna on her scholarship!

One year ago...I was curious about what Tanya and I wrote about one year ago today and it was all about Amazing World Treks and a walk down memory lane of the great hikes that "the cousins" have experienced!!
