Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN: BRECKENRIDGE, COLORADO
Good Day Everyone!
Greetings once again from Dillon, Colorado!
Yesterday and the idea of hitting the slopes kinda went bust. But I was okay with that - actually it was my idea.
Ya see getting in and going to bed at 6a the same day you plan on hitting the slopes isn't exactly the grandest of ideas...of course we had no intention of getting in at such an hour - but when I told you that Friday was a L O N G day, I wasn't kidding around!!!
The kids and Dave were all willing to go and were surprised that I decided against hitting the slopes (one of my favorite things)!
But I knew that although we were all awake - we were all still exhausted. Besides, we still hadn't even received the delivery of Dave's skis - to me all signs were pointing against us going skiing yesterday.
So instead we hit the town and checked out the Lake, which is located directly behind our resort.
We watched the Snowkiting on frozen Lake Dillon - which I'd never do - based on how dangerous it is to be on a frozen lake/pond etc... But I had no problem watching from the shoreline.
We also checked out the neighborhood/town, had some hot drinks at Red Buffalo Coffee House, handcrafted espresso drinks at an elevation of 8,750 and we also went in search of the perfect postcard (for Dave), but didn't find any that were even suitable! *Yes he can be very picky about his postcards.
Once we got back to the condo, we began putting a puzzle together, had dinner, and just relaxed...falling asleep much earlier than usual (this was no surprise).
Today we are up bright and early. Actually it wasn't too bright - since the sun was just coming up. And we are all stoked and excited for the full day on the slopes that awaits us!!!
VAIL here we come!
See y'all back here tomorrow :) -T
Elisa's Daily Scoop
Good morning and Happy Sunday!! How's your weekend been so far? Mine is pretty good. I took the girls to horseback riding yesterday and boy was I steaming...
I wasn't feeling that great when I woke up in the morning, but didn't want to disappoint, so I took them first thing. Because I felt slightly under the weather, I told them that they we would leave at 12:30 instead, the normal time of 3.
Now, as the day went on, I gave in and decided to let them stay till 2. So, I waited in the car from 1 till 2 and no sign of the kids. I continued waiting (mind you, I was exhausted and tried to take a little cat nap) until 2:30. Before I knew it, it was 3:10!
I went into the barn and saw my two girls dilly dallying and it was long after the rest of the kids, and their trainer had left.
Very angrily, I told them that they better get their butts outside. I stomped out of barn and went back into the car. The time ticked by and by 3:30, I was rip-roaring pissed! This time, I went into the barn and advised the girls that we would not be returning back to the barn today!
I told them that I gave them an inch and they took a mile. I was pretty mad.
Anyway, we didn't say much the whole ride home.
Okay, so when push came to shove, guess what we wound up doing today?
Yup, I gave in - here we are in Manorville, at the barn. I left them insecure all night and figured it was punishment enough.
National Parks Freebies for Martin Luther King Day... Okay, so moving on...tomorrow is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
In celebration, all 409 national parks will feature free admission. While a large number of our parks are already free of charge, notable parks that are waiving their fees include several of the most-visited in the country, such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and Olympic National Park.
The savings will be roughly $12 per person if you're arriving by foot or bike, or about $20 to $25 per vehicle.
Thanks to Wikipedia, here is a list of the National Parks by state. CLICK HERE.
So, anyway, that's about it for now. Back here tomorrow!
