A Week of PamperingYay Friday! Hello and welcome back! I have to admit, I'm getting a case of the doldrums with the cold weather and short days of January. I've been doing a lot of self-pampering this past week - shopping last Sunday, hair on Wednesday and nails & massage yesterday. It helps a bit to spoil myself, but I'm still yearning for the long, sunny days (boo!). On a positive note, I'm loving the nail color I went with. I was caught up in the dark shades over the past few months, and decided to go with something bright and fun yesterday. While Tanya is kickin' it on the slopes, I'm dreaming about food here on Long Island. That's right folks, today is Foodie Friday! This past summer, while I was about to look for a nearby eatery to the Walter Kerr Theatre for a theatre excursion to see The Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder with my mom and her friend Irene, I was stopped dead in my tracks by my friend Maria as she emphatically recommended a restaurant she had just eaten at earlier the same week. The name of the restaurant is La Masseria and I knew it was fate, because it just happened to be situated two doors down from the theatre we would be going to!! I immediately made a reservation for a post-matinee dinner and couldn't have been happier with my experience! Catch all the details in my feature today La Masseria - Delicious Italian in the Theatre District So, what's on my agenda today? Well, after a fierce workout this morning, I decided to do a little research on one of the Eastern Europe cities Tanya and I will be traveling to in late June: Krakow, Poland. I thought I would get a jump start on activities and sights to see for when Tanya and I start working on our itinerary during the next week. Krakow will be the second city we visit as we make our way clockwise from Prague. Seriously, folks, I don't know what it is about Eastern Europe. From the first time I stepped foot in Prague (Czech Republic) in April 2014, I felt so at home and as if I was meant to come back again and again, to the charm of this part of the world. In fact, while I was in Prague in my apartment rental overlooking the Old Town Square, I was already dreaming of my return! We don't always know what draws us to certain things, but I can tell you that the allure and calling to this part of the world is very strong for me. Couple that with the fact that the people in this region are warm, inviting and friendly, and there was no way I wasn't planning my return sooner than later. With its beauty and history, I'm not unaware that Tanya and I will also be in for some very sad and dismal sightseeing with the touring of the concentration camps. While I'm not looking forward to the depressing nature of Auschwitz and Birkenau, I do feel historically, it's an imperative, somber journey to make while in Krakow. History is filled with so many aspects - good and bad - and to truly ingest the culture of a destination, it is necessary to behold and experience both. And that's what Tanya and I will be doing. Well, don't forget that this Travelin' Tuesday, we will begin sharing our plans for some upcoming trips!! Appreciate the daily voting! Keep 'em comin'! ----->>>>----->>>>----->>>>>----->>>> Here's to a Terrific Weekend!! -E | Bet you can guess what I'm doing today...Heigh-ho Heigh ho, it's off to ski I go! Happy Friday Everybody! I hope that everyone has has an amazing week, and that your weekend only gets even better!! My friend Jodie arrived here to visit with us for the remainder of this trip. She flew in from Southern California late last night and we are now getting ready to head out and go have some fun on the slopes! Cosette had initially fought the idea of going skiing yesterday as she thought that the visibility was bad... Well it had cleared up beautifully, the kids and I did manage to get out there, we went for it, found some sweet powder and had a fantastic time out there! And this morning the skies are already looking awesome! That's it for today! I know it was short, but I've gotta get out there. I'll catch up with you all tomorrow and fill ya in on more things then! Ciao 4 Now, -T |
