Tanya's Daily Scoop | Elisa's Daily ScoopHAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Well, well, well - look who’s back!! Yup - your old pal Elisa! What a year I’ve had. I’ll tell you about it below, but first, let me share some of the new and exciting things I have planned for 2018, here on Travelin’ Cousins! Tanya and I are shakin’ things up here a bit for the new year! We all know that Tanya is a world class traveler - my “baby” cousin never stops and her adventures, experiences, photos and recounting of her travels is second to none that I’ve ever seen on any travel blog. Now, I know that I’m a bit partial, but this girl does it all in the travel department and will continue to do so in the year ahead. I know you share my excitement to see and hear all she has planned for 2018 (and beyond)! As fate would have it, your’s truly is not doing as much traveling these days. I know it’s a bit sad, but nothing to fret about!! I promise you, there is no shortage of travel-related facts and fun that I will be bringing you in spite of not being a global jetsetter these days. Life has taken a slight turn for me temporarily (all good stuff!) and as a result, I am so thrilled that I will be doing something all new for the year ahead. Starting immediately, I will be bringing you on a weekly basis --- Elisa’s Long Island and Travelin' 25 This will be an all new feature linked to my blog every Monday with interesting stories and facts about points of interest on Long Island and the surrounding outer boroughs of New York City. There are so many bloggers and websites that focus on the star destination here in New York -- Manhattan; but Long Island and the outer boroughs just seem to get lost in the spotlight of The Big Apple. Travelin’ Cousins is determined to shine the light brightly on the wonders of Long Island and “the other boroughs” that comprise New York City, so you have even more options whether you are visiting the area or live here. Here’s a sneak peek at what is upcoming: * Historic Long Island Towns Spotlighted * 25 Things to do on Long Island in the Winter * 25 War Monuments and Memories on Long Island * 25 of the Best Valentine’s Gifts for the Vegan on Long Island * And more!!! Features will begin next Monday. For the rest of the days, I will be keeping you posted on my personal life, fun activities, good meals and just the day to day, which I look forward to sharing with you again!!! Back to me and the past year. As you know, I took several hiatuses in 2017, for which I profoundly apologize. Life got rough and I just had to get through the challenges I was dealing with. For those of you that do not know, I was going through a difficult divorce since the Fall of 2015. It was not pretty, by any stretch of the imagination. There was so much to tend to on the legal, financial and practical front, that took up so much of time, and not to mention, my precious energy. Add to that, the emotional impact of things being a full-time single mom, dealing with Gianna and Kelsey with school, social and school activities and of course their emotional well-being (and not so well-being). What I can say is that the saying “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” couldn’t be more true in my case. I persevered. And while things did not work out 100% for what I would have hoped on the financial front, I can most emphatically say, that spiritually, this unpleasant and painful journey brought me to a new level that I never thought possible. At the risk of sounding dramatic, I am literally transformed and my life is on a totally new path. My divorce was the catalyst to me hitting the reset button in my life! I cannot wait to get back in the blogging game and share my life with you again!! Now, I did manage to spend a lovely Christmas in Disney World this year with my best girls! We enjoyed the rides, the warm weather (a break from the frigid temps on Long Island during the holiday week) and tons of great meals and eats!! Below is a mini overview in photos from our Christmas trip to Disney World! Here’s to a very Happy New Year and an amazing 2018, and hoping all your dreams come true!! -E |
