BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
Riverdale, Bronx & Bird WatchingHey Guys! What a gloomy day here on Long Island. I love the rain, but, today is just ugly out. Anyway, I started the day dropping the kids off, then I headed back home to hang with Punkin for a while. Then I got a call from one of my friends who asked me if I was in the mood to get a hot chocolate. When am I NOT in the mood? Did I tell you that I have given up dairy and I'm now getting my hot chocolates with coconut milk! So yummy!!
Another Friday here and my latest published article featured in ThisIsTheBronx.info.
This week, we're taking a trip up to Riverdale, located in the northwest Bronx.
Riverdale:19th Century Estates District
of New York’s Wealthy
The more exploring I do around the borough, the more astounded I am with the notable treasures and their special part in laying the foundation of the Bronx.
Take for instance the community of Riverdale. Today it is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in New York City, a reputation it has maintained from its days as a 19th-century estate district where many of Manhattan's moguls built their country estates, read more...
In my ongoing quest to explore the Bronx, I'm planning on going up there this Sunday to Wave Hill to do some bird watching. I asked both kids if they wanted to come, but with an unbelievably resounding NO, they both replied!
Oh well, looks like I'll be going by myself. In case you weren't aware, "Wave Hill is a 28-acre estate in the Hudson Hill section of Riverdale, The Bronx, in New York City. Wave Hill currently consists of public horticultural gardens and a cultural center, all situated on the slopes overlooking the Hudson River, with expansive views across the river to the New Jersey Palisades." - wiki I'll tell you more about it after my visit! Last night, me and Tanya made such AMAZING progress on our Sicily trip planning! We narrowed down our itinerary, decided on a tour and tour guide for key areas of Siracusa and even started looking at accommodations. More to come about this!! Ok - gotta run - see ya tomorrow!! -Cheers Travlein' Elisa xoxo |
Amped about Sicily Plans coming together
Good day out there!
I have had a change in my schedule of "to dos" this week and have had tons of time to work on all of these upcoming trips. You know I really love doing this type of thing!! It truly and totally energizes me to think about all of our plans. I also finally had the time to upload the bunches of pictures that I have from our recent European trip and actually get some added to my Photo Gallery. I'll be adding even more pictures today including ones from China so be sure to check them out! I'm super amped about Sicily... Elisa and I had a lengthy conversation last night and have really got the ball rolling with this Taste of Sicily - Cousins trip to the Homeland!
We'll be talking again today and I've found a few hotel properties that I can't wait to share with my dear cuz. And possibly start booking away!
We'll be sharing along the way and posting our updated itinerary very soon. In other travel news... Fodor's Travel has posted in TODAY'S DEPARTURE the article Avoid the Throngs of Tourists at These 11 Crowd-Free Alternative Destinations. Among the 11 cities listed is none other than South Lake Tahoe. Which is the trip next up on my travel calendar. Here's what Fodor's had to say:
Of course you know that in the winter we go for the skiing.
And in the summer we go for the cycling.
South Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to go any time of the year and with a plethora of things to keep anyone busy!
Only 14 days to go before this trip commences and we drive up north and into the wintery wonderland atmosphere. I've checked the 10 day forecast as as of now the temps aren't frigid and there is much snow on the horizon... 8 out of the 10 upcoming days. I just hope that we don't get snowed in and shut out of skiing like we did 2 years ago. Here are some quotes/memories from that trip:
Anyhow, that's all for today. I'll catch up with you guys again tomorrow, -Travelin' Tanya |
