Tanya's Daily Scoop CURRENTLY TRAVELING IN NEW YORK:
The Tales of Travelin' Tanya
Heya! We took the Red-Eye last night from LAX and got into a snowy JFK at around 5:20am this morning.
Knowing that there would be traffic in this weather we headed straight for Penn Station and watched the wintery mix fall.
CHOO CHOO! Train rides can be just so relaxing!
GREETINGS from Amtrak's Adirondack Train this 11 hour journey is often called one of the most scenic train rides in the WORLD!
As of this publishing we are nearing Westport, NY on the banks of Lake Champlain and bordering Vermont - only 96 miles from our destination.
We are heading to the largest city in Quebec, and the largest French-speaking city in North America - Montreal.
But before I get into all of this, let me give you some scoop from yesterday... Luckily Cosette woke up feeling pretty much back to herself and so before heading to the airport, we had to head to the stables to say hello and good bye to her Dream Beam!
Greeting a pair of HUGE draft horses on our way to Dream.
Cosette had straight up told me that Equestrians don't need Groundhogs to tell them when Spring is coming... Can you guess how they know???
While at the stables, I got to meet this dear sweet week old baby boy, who lost his momma during childbirth - that is still what it's called when a horse gives birth right?!
Anyhoo, I met with his owner and caretaker who told me the entire story and who have been sitting with him 24/7.
Luckily he is doing splendid and seems very well adjusted for never having a mother. He will certainly grow up to be a people's horse! But nevertheless, such a heartbreaking story.
Boy was a hustle to get back home, wash up, and get ready to head out for the airport after spending a bit too much time at the stables.
But we managed... And so it is, a LONG travelin journey on another travelin day for dear Tanya ;)
A Buncha Colorful Bags! Why? Because they a less likely to be mistaken and taken for someone else's typical Black Suitcase...and they are pretty!
We are leaving on Jet Plane!
Awaiting our ride at JFK.
Pictures from the train ride and much more tomorrow, including the drive up to Quebec City!!!
Don't miss a beat, and meet me back here at the same time and same place. -T

Another Snow Day
It's good to be back! As Tanya mentioned yesterday, I had anticipated getting back from Spirit Day at the girlies' school, in time to hit our publishing deadline.
Well, that didn't happen as I ended up staying way longer to help out. Missed ya guys!!
I know I've been TERRIBLE at posting personal photos lately. As fate would have it, I was camera-less yesterday!!! I left me cell phone in the car and didn't bring an actual camera. So I am not able to share pics with you from yesterday. (insert sad face).
However, what I will say, is that every now and then, it is nice NOT to take pictures and just enjoy the experience. And that's precisely what I did. Nothing to distract me, no worry about lighting or the right angle. It was a relaxing experience! I love technology, but sometimes life is more relaxing without it!
Did you read all about Tanya's upcoming trip to Quebec City?? I thoroughly enjoyed her blog yesterday about this charming city!!
Way back last year, I had really hoped that me and the kids could have joined her crew on their second Winter trip to Quebec.
Unfortunately, this year is a very demanding year for Kelsey in school. The 4th grade curriculum is extremely hard with a great deal of concepts being thrown at these kids on a weekly basis. I spend a minimum of 2 hours daily with her getting through all the work. The other night, we were still doing math reviews at 8:15pm!
So, in an effort to NOT have her fall behind or miss important lessons, I have scaled back my travel for 2016 (really sad!!).
But, I have been living vicariously through Tanya's travel adventures!!
Let's move onto the good news today!!! Today is another SNOW DAY!! The weather report said that where I live on Long Island was going to be hit with about 2-4 inches of snow - not that terrible.
It began last night after the rain turned to snow in the middle of the night and continued through the morning. As of this writing, the snow pretty much let up.
I managed to get out while it was still coming down and clear off my car quite easily. Then I headed over to Ace Hardware and picked up a new shovel. Local roads and main roads were actually in pretty good shape, thank goodness. I was also able to get my daily hot chocolate at Starbucks as well, while out and about.
The good news is, the accumulate is not so bad! The kids were literally freaking out about whether or not they would be able to get to horseback riding tomorrow. However, I'm pretty sure that based on the lack of snow build-up and the fact that it has stopped snowing, we should make it out there just fine.
I'm not sure how badly the snow hit Suffolk County where the barn is located, but, I'm hopeful, the barn will be open as usual. We will see...

Today, let's chat about the Most Romantic Places to Visit in New York City, since this is where Tanya will be making her first stop before heading to Quebec...
1. Carriage Ride Through Central Park Nothing says romance better than a ride in a horse-drawn carriage around New York's beautiful Central Park. Bundled up under a warm blanket in the cold Winter air, with your love, makes for a special memory!
2. A Stroll Through Tiffany's One of the most well-known jewelry stores in the world, Tiffany's is a great place to browse or plan to buy that special gift for your sweetheart! Going together is even more romantic.
3. Lincoln Center With dozens of shows, operas and ballets annually, Lincoln Center screams elegance! A night on the town with your honey, all dressed up is perfect to get you in the Valentine's spirit.
4. Rockefeller Center No matter what you decide to do - skate, watch the skaters, shop or dine, you are in the center of one of one of the most romantic places in Manhattan. Hand in hand with your honey, day or night, is a treat!
5. Broadway Show Anyone that knows me, knows what a theatre buff I am! I can't think of anything more romantic to do than sit in a gorgeous New York City theatre with your partner, taking in a performance!
I do hope some of my suggestions give you some great ideas for this month of love!!
Well, I'm off to shovel my driveway with the kiddos.
See ya back here tomorrow - hopefully, from the barn!!!
