BRAND BALLOT'S TOP 100 MOM BLOGS FOR 2018!!
Boots & BrunchWell hello! Happy Sunday! So, weather update first - it's as if we are having a heatwave - well, as compared to a few days ago. It hit the thirties yesterday and today it is ..... Cold I can deal with just find. FREEZING - well, not so much. Yesterday, I was in a bit of a rush and I didn't get to tell you about my latest purchases. That's right - I hit a sale on DSW Shoe Warehouse online and managed to get a few very cute boots. My current riding boots are in pretty bad shape. They are over six years old and have seen better days. So, I thought it was time to find myself a new pair. The Journey Collection Lynn arrived Thursday and they fit nicely. In fact, now that Kelsey and I are both the same shoe size (7), we can both share my purchases (If I am generous lol) The other boots, I just fell in love with on the DSW website - fancy, bling-filled combat boots with a fashionable heel. Are these Madden Girl Veera Velvet Combat boots not adorable!!! I cannot wait to wear them! Getting new shoes just makes me think of all the new clothes I could get to go with them! Nothing warms a girl's heart more than some good old fashioned shopping!! Well, I suppose the only thing that comes close is eating! And that is the perfect segue to tell you guys all about my most delicious weekly brunch yesterday with my two favorite girls. This week we went to City Cellar in Westbury, literally on the border of Garden City. I can't tell you how many times I've passed this restaurant, since it's located on the same road as my gym. So, I figured - let's try it! What a great place!! I can't believe I hadn't eaten there before. Beautiful interior, great service, and the food was just marvelous! We ate a wee bit too much - from the bread, to the Quinoa Salad with beets, apricots, pistachios, greens, and tomatoes to the Taleggio, Truffle, Caramelized onion pizza!! It was all so fresh and deliciously prepared. This place easily became one of our favorites after only one meal!! The menu had plenty of non-dairy options (or seemed to accommodate non-dairy when requested. Vegan-wise, there were a great many salad options, but vegetarian wise- it was just fine! I even got a complimentary mimosa!! Really yummy and fun brunch date for my trio!! Off to begin my Sunday. Got most of my errands completed yesterday - Whew. So, I'll be enjoying the day with a lovely Sunday pasta meal with my girls. Have a great day! -Travelin' Elisa xoxo | Vegan Game Day FoodsHey folks! Good day to you! I'm gonna jump right into it because we have a lot of ground to cover... Like I shared with you yesterday, we are having a WET weekend here in SoCal. But rain never stopped us before and we had lots to accomplish so off we went. Now let me warn you, I know that today is Sunday and I know that the SCOOP is all about Saturday but really it's pretty much almost all gonna be entirely (almost) about food!! Call time wasn't until 2:30p and it was a Saturday so as per our usual my gang headed out to have lunch and since Dominic had been requesting a restaurant that we hadn't been to in quite a while, off we went to Vegan Nirvana (in Huntington Beach). After enjoying a very tasty lunch we stepped back out into the rain and walked only a few doors down (where Liz works) to give her a surprise visit before heading out to the 20th Anniversary of the Festival of Friendship in Cerritos where Cosette and the rest of the ambassadors of the International Peace Choir had sang and danced their hearts out to a welcoming crowd. It was during the performance that I received a few text messages about the upcoming evening Make-Your-Own Pizza Party. It seems that the streets were flooded by Matt's house and the party was to be held at his place so it was rescheduled. We were all okay with this, but I did have over 11 pounds of freshly made pizza dough and sauce ready to go... So I called the fam bam and told them that we were gonna have our own at home pizza making party! Being that we no longer had any time pressure, once the performance had ended when Cosette and her friend Brianna had asked if they could go shopping it was really no problem. While Cosette and Bri bopped in and out of store after store, Kathy (Bri's mom) and I followed along and managed to catch up on recent happenings that we usually just have no time for. Of course the girls found a few things that we agreed to buying for them. And Cosette knows that the way to my heart is mentioning how nice certain articles of clothing could work on upcoming travels! After the mall and a few more stops, we finally headed home and got the "party" started!! Turns out that a couple of friends showed up and it turned out to be a pizza and game night at our house... It turned out to be a long day and since they were playing Risk a long night too... The game went until about 2:30am. As far as today goes, I will share our menu with you and then make my way to the kitchen. Pictures of all the foods to follow in tomorrows DAILY SCOOP. VEGAN GAME DAY MENU for the 2019 SUPER BOWL
